Police in Prachinburi have arrested a Myanmar national accused of brutally murdering a fellow countryman and abandoning the body in a cassava field. The suspect was detained after an overnight pursuit that led officers to another province, following intensive investigation by the local police force.

The case began when villagers discovered the body of a Myanmar worker in a cassava plantation in Moo 12, Ban Mab Pa Tong, Sri Maha Phot district, Prachinburi province. Initial reports indicated that both the victim and the suspect were migrant workers from Myanmar employed in the same area. The victim’s throat had been slashed and multiple stab wounds. Investigators quickly determined the killing was the result of a violent altercation between the two men.

Under the direction of Police Colonel Thaveekit Wiriyakul, Superintendent of Rabao Phai Police Station, officers launched a full-scale investigation soon after the discovery. Forensic teams examined the scene while detectives interviewed co-workers and nearby residents to gather leads on the suspect’s whereabouts. Information obtained from the suspect’s workplace and other sources revealed that he had fled the province shortly after committing the crime.

A police pursuit ensued across provincial borders as investigators tracked the suspect’s movements overnight. With coordinated efforts between local and regional units, officers successfully apprehended the man early morning on 25 October. He was transported back to Prachinburi for interrogation and further legal proceedings.

Authorities have not yet officially released the suspect’s name but confirmed that he is a Myanmar national who had been working in Thailand legally. Police believe personal conflict was the motive behind the murder, though further questioning will determine the exact circumstances. The arrest brings an end to a manhunt that had stirred concern among local migrant communities.

Investigators are now focusing on gathering additional evidence to prepare charges and confirm the motive. The case highlights ongoing issues surrounding migrant worker disputes and the importance of swift cross-provincial coordination in serious criminal investigations.

Key Takeaways

• A Myanmar worker was murdered and his body left in a cassava field in Prachinburi.

• The suspect, also from Myanmar, was arrested after an overnight manhunt.

• Police are now interrogating the suspect to confirm motive and file charges.
