A monk and a man believed to be intoxicated were involved in a street brawl outside a market in Nonthaburi on the morning of 25 October, causing a commotion as locals rushed to break up the fight. The altercation began after the man, reportedly seeking food, exchanged heated words with the monk before both threw punches.

Police at the Chalee Base Radio Centre, Wat Ku, received a report at around 07.40, that a monk had been assaulted near Phichai Market, Pak Kret district. Officers arrived to find the suspect had fled into a nearby housing estate, approximately one kilometre from the scene. The man, identified as 31-year-old Apisith Satjaphanroj, was apprehended shortly after. Officers noted that he appeared disoriented and spoke incoherently, showing signs of intoxication and took him to the Pak Kret Police Station to calm down.

CCTV footage from 07.37, showed Apisith, wearing a red T-shirt and jeans, approaching a monk collecting alms by the roadside. After greeting the monk with a wai, an argument broke out and the monk was seen punching Apisith in the face. The man retaliated by striking the monk on the lip, causing him to collapse. A bystander in a black shirt quickly intervened to help the monk, leading to a brief scuffle before the suspect fled from the market.

A popcorn vendor named Noon, who witnessed the incident, said she was setting up her stall when she saw the two walking together. The man appeared to ask for food, but the conversation escalated into an argument. “The monk hit first and then the man hit back, making the monk fall with a bleeding lip,” she said, adding that the monk was a regular in the area and that the man seemed unstable and incoherent.

Later, reporters learned from Pak Kret Police Station that Apisith remained in custody for questioning. The assaulted monk had not yet filed an official complaint. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and will determine whether to pursue charges once both parties have been interviewed.

So it begs to ask... Why doesn't the news say anything about arreting the monk as well as the man in black who was throwing so many punches at the other man?

Instead the police go after the man in red who apparently defended himself when the monk throw the first punch.

Something is very wrong about this. It does not matter that the man in red may have been intoxicated or under the influence. He did not throw the first punch..

Also, something else to note, the man in Black ran back to his bike to get a weapon of some sort and then chased after the man in red with a weapon. Why are the police not arresting this man as well even more so than the monk or man in red?

Pretty true, as it appears the man said something to the monk, who took offense and hit him. Then he hit back. The man in black looks like he was defending the monk , and was holding his own, neither knowing how to hit, and then went for something in his scooter, which he didn't need. Words to a monk shouldn't provoke an attack, as they're supposed to be about peace, although they are people. Who knows his origin, as we see monks in trouble almost weekly here.
