The double standard is on display again.

Inaugural dinners and balls are funded in the same manner as the  new WH ballroom is being funded. How many of the people  upset here know who contributed to the Obama inaugural balls and how much the contributions were? The 2009 inauguration received $120 million in non federal funding.  The 2013 inauguration relied on $45 million of donations. Who do you think  pays for presidential libraries? The fund raising for a library  starts as soon as a president takes office. Jimmy Carter did not pay for his presidential library, nor did Reagan or Clinton.

 

The money donated for the   WH building  is given to the government and is not for Trump's personal use.  Are people unaware that every year, donors provide cash or property donations to governments? This has been  going on since 1843.

 

I get it that the optics of how this was handled  are not good. However, what exactly is different morally from how Clinton, Bush and Obama raised money for their pet projects funded by donors?  Even the White House Halloween events and Easter Egg hunts have been funded by private donors. What's next? No treats for kids at Halloween because a company donated the candy?
