Optics and timing were not good, but your hyperbole is unreasonable. The Gatsby theme was planned months ago, long before the funding dispute.

Food was not being ripped out of hungry kids' mouths. On the contrary, that's what supporters of the SNAP funding diversion wish to do. The proposal to use the USDA emergency contingency funds to support one month's worth of SNAP  benefits  would take the funds which USDA has allocated to the Child Nutrition Program fund. It makes for nice political rhetoric, but the reality is different.  Your demand would target disadvantaged children's  meals to fund adults purchases of  soda pop and junk food. It is you who is advocating for the cruel treatment of  poor kids.

No. I believe it is  called shooting oneself in the foot, once you understand where the SNAP funding  would be sourced.

As for the rest of your nonsense. Right now the Child Nutrition program has untapped funds from tariffs. The Child Nutrition Program would only ultimately suffer if the Snap Program wasn't retroactively approved by Congress. In addition, Congress could always authorize makeup funding if it so chose. I grant you that with Republicans in charge, they might prefer to starve children instead.
