one person has one, and millions have lost, just like London

How have millions of Londoners "lost"? He won a clear majority of votes......for an unprecedented third term! Londoners are happy with him.

Why are you drawing parallels other than that they are both Muslim? What do you actually know about him or his achievements?

Luckily in the UK (apart from the flag shaggers), and especially in London, we don't care if you are white, brown, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist. If you have a good manifesto, or if you have been doing excellent work, you'll get voted in / back in. We laugh at the US's ridiculously bipartisan politics, just look at how you all classify people as "loony left", "leftists" like you will ALWAYS vote for the same party no matter what - it is idiotic and is why everyone only concentrates on swing states. Blind loyalty is not a good trait for thinking people (ah, wait, I think I see the issue....)

Londoners don't see party politics in the main. Since London mayors were elected and not appointed we've had two terms of an independent, two of a Tory, and now three of Khan. He's doing a great job as evidenced by his clear win in 2024.

I wish Mamdani all the best and think he is what New York needs, and New Yorkers clearly agree! It is hilarious to see the right melting down and Trump especially spitting his dummy.

Look on the bright side, you don't pay taxes in the USA so really no worry to you.

There you go imagining where I file or don’t file my taxes.

The US desparately needs multi-party democracy - in both Congress and Presidential - with run-off votes where necessary to ensure the eventual winner gets 50% plus. Also time to get rid of the 'Electoral College'.

As for the UK, it also needs more choice. It needs to split both the Tory and Labour party into two new parties. So a right wing Tory party, a right-of-centre second Conservative party, a left-wing Corben-type Labour party and a second progressive Labour party. Add that to the LibDems and that's a reasonably good slate.

You forgot the Muslim Party, which you're going to get one way or another anyway.

I don't have any issue - yet - with the new Mayor of New York.He appears to be a gifted and interesting politician. It's surprising that some over excited British journos compare him to the new Green Party leader, Zak Polanski, who is as clownish a political figure as I have seen for some time. His inevitable implosion will be enjoyable to watch. It reminds me of the left's enthusiasm for Russell Brand a few years ago.

Returning to your charge.I was simply responding to a comment.I've no interest in 'changing the subject' though I note that exposing hypocrisy on the left presses some of your buttons.

Rich people are evil and have too much money. Just like Obama said, there's plenty of money, just the wrong people have it.

It will be interesting to see the rich people flee NY.

The middle class gets the shaft all the time. Rich people leave, poor people don't pay taxes.

Neoliberalism has gutted the working class, it’s moved on the consumer the middle class.

The hyper wealthy appreciate those at the bottom of the ladder squabbling, it’s the whole message of rightwing politics.

Isn’t the working class the middle class?

Who is on edge, other than GOP and MAGA supporters and some billionaires?

He won the a majority of votes, so only a minority are on edge.

If the "losers" are on edge, maybe they can emigrate to Texas or Florida, or preferably Israel or Russia, maybe North Korea.

No

The definition of the working class is all over the place.

Hey Americans, maybe you shouldn't let people in to your country that want to take your money and turn your city into a dump like where they came from. Will anyone learn this lesson though?

Yes, that would be leftists. So you are aware then

USA seems the most aware western country at the moment. Will europe learn the lesson? Probably too late

I don't see anyone learning any lessons. He won explicitly on demographics and foreign born voters.  There's no debate to be had about policy etc..

You invite someone in from Uganda, give them the power to vote and they're just going to vote for the person that takes from others and gives it to them. If NYC falls apart they'll just move to some other city, other country or back home even.

Will Republicans learn a lesson and ban immigration from totally incompatible countries like Uganda or heavily Muslim countries? Not a chance.

I even saw Greg Abbott make some smart ass remark about what in NYC and people should move to Texas. They're 1 or 2 election cycles from flipping and they're still joking around like it's in 1990.

Gregg Abbot needs to concern himself with the problems of Texas, party the absence of critical infrastructure.

Winter is arriving, will Texans have power to heat their homes?

Fat chance. These are the politicians we get. No wonder people are upset with GOP and they just lost bigly.

Take note Mamdani at least said he wouldn't visit Israel. At least he gets credit for that.
