Get the insurance before she comes, from Belgium before 65, often a cut off

I think she really wants to do things properly and get a good insurance. What does * cut off * mean please ? Better rates ?

He means that many insurers do not issue new policies after age 65.

Great, that's why i suggested she arrange the insurance at home before she comes to Thailand

I'm with WRLife. You're covered at least until you reach 100 years, and they take you with preconditions even.

The best is.....no rising premiums. They are fixed from the date you entered.

Just go for a quotation and check by yourself.

Me too, although I don't think pre-existing conditions are covered unless declared up front, which will impact the size of the premium.

Whilst governments the world over are increasing minimum pension entitlement ages on the grounds that we are, supposedly, all living longer, this is clearly not being correspondingly matched by health insurers in connection with the availability of policies to those at the older end of the age spectrum.

In the case of Belgium, for instance, the statutory retirement age increased from 65 to 66 at the start of the year, and is due to increase further to 67 in 2030:

So the lady referred to in the OP is likely to find herself in the ridiculous position of being deemed too old for a new private health insurance policy but too young for the Belgian state pension for a year following her 65th birthday! I strongly suspect that, until and unless the private health insurance sector also finally wake up to the fact that we are all living longer, many more people are likely to find themselves in the absurd position of being deemed too young for state pensions yet too old for new private health insurance policies over coming years - and for considerably longer than a single year, to boot!

She should go through a broker specializing in expat policies.

I use  https://www.aoc-insurancebroker.com/

They are based in France. There may be others based in Belgium, look into that first.

The drop-down menu on their online quote request doesn't have a health insurance option. It does have the Expatriate option so does that open a broader search for health, life, etc.?

No. That means Exoattiate health policy.
