SSA Delay for January in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Just saw that 2 January has been made into yet another bank holiday. That's a Friday on which we would normally have SSA deposits arrive in our Thai bank accounts. So I'm guessing deposits will now be delayed until the fifth???

So budget for an extra three days to make your December money last until 5th.

But then you will have an extra bit to last until the next payday.

Yes, but many members of this forum (me among them) get an unsettling feeling when the deposit doesn't arrive as scheduled. That's especially true since the Form 7162 fiasco that happened this year. Account freezes for that wouldn't happen until the February deposit, I guess, but still . . .

Easy solution, as there is no 'set schedule', obviously, even though 95% of the time it's the 3rd.   Set your own, for the 6th of the month, then you'll never think it's not 'on time', as I think that's the latest it has ever arrived.

Surely nobody's budget, legally staying in TH, is that tight, that they are living month to month, and a three day delay will not put food on the table, buy another can of Archa or pay the rent :coffee1:

Tell me you're not stressing yourself out on the 3rd, and start feeling sick around 12 noon, if the DD hasn't shown up :w00t:

I think it's good to stay on top of things. See how many people post topics wondering where there SSA deposit is if it's a day late, if you don't believe. However, I do think this may not be a problem anymore. I remember after Bangkok Bank shifted to Promptpay that I got notice of a deposit on a Thai holiday. I don't remember which one, but I remember being surprised it showed up in my notices. Didn't matter, because the bank was still closed and I have an account that requires me to appear in person to get withdrawals. But, yes, I think people should be aware of their situation. How many come February will be squirming if their Form 7162 return didn't get processed?

if ur living on the line so close, that ur SS deposit being a day or 2 later than normal affects ur life

I truly feel sorry for you

I think this is more about...

giving people a reminder so they don't freak out when their DD->THL doesn't come in on Jan. 2. We often have threads here on this subject.

vagaries of the 7162 process, did they receive it, am I still OK?

...rather than surviving two days.

That's my read on the OP/thread.

Can you not have your Pension paid into a USA account, then transfer it via Wise to your THB account. Can all be set up to do automatically.
