A 22-year-old man driving under the influence collided with five vehicles in Tak province. The incident occurred while emergency responders were assisting a hit-and-run accident involving a student, leaving the vehicles badly damaged and the driver seriously injured.

The Tak Ruamjai Sangkhro Foundation received an alert from 1669 emergency services and the local police at 20:30 in the evening. Responders arrived at the scene in front of Vanasin Hotel, where a student had been struck by a car and was in critical condition. The student received first aid and was taken to Somdej Phra Chao Taksin Maharaj Hospital, where they remain in the ICU.

While rescue personnel and volunteers were controlling traffic and assisting at the site, the suspect drove a white Honda Jazz through a red light at high speed. The vehicle struck two rescue cars and three motorcycles before crashing into a roadside lamp post. Emergency workers and police  had to leap to safety to avoid being hit.

The driver, found to be intoxicated, was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities have yet to determine how damages to rescue and private vehicles will be compensated. The incident highlights the risks emergency responders face when assisting at crash scenes, particularly in cases involving reckless or intoxicated drivers.
