A group of suspected dog thieves evaded capture after their car plunged into a ditch during a police chase in Minh Thanh Commune, Binh Duong Province. The incident occurred early Friday morning, leading the suspects to flee on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Inside the car, police discovered four dead dogs and various theft-related tools.

This chase began when a police patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it for inspection. The driver refused to comply, prompting a coordinated effort with neighboring police and specialized units to set up roadblocks. As the pursuit unfolded near the Dong Nai Province border, the suspects lost control of the car, leading to its crash.

Upon inspection, authorities found items such as electric shock guns, pepper spray, and fake license plates in the car. These tools indicated the occupants were prepared for theft and evasion. The discovery of the dead dogs highlighted the illegal nature of their activities, as Vietnamese law classifies pets as property.

The pursuit to locate and capture the escaped suspects is ongoing, with police expanding their investigation. In Vietnam, stealing pets like dogs and cats is considered "theft of property." Moreover, while there is no explicit ban on the dog- and cat-meat trades, such activities may infringe upon various regulations related to public health and animal welfare.

Looking forward, the police aim to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators. There is a broader implication for enforcing stricter regulations to prevent similar crimes, safeguarding both animals and owners' rights. This incident highlights the challenges in managing pet theft and the associated illegal trade in Vietnam.
