I think it shows that there's no unification within the government, and one lowly department creates dumb and thoughtless policy without any consideration whatsoever for the other important agendas that the nation has. It is truly the blind leading the blind.

I feel like a broken record as I'm saying this over and over again, but there's really no hope for progress within Thailand until the youth take control.

They tried and got back stabbed.

It is a surly, ridiculous, outdated, purile, and useless rule, that reveals a sense of fake puritanism, and makes Thailand appear to be utterly foolish to the world.

  • Dinosaurs still rule... everywhere else they went extinct

  • It's always been and remains ridiculous. Why 2-5?

I doubt that limiting alcohol hours will kill tourism all by itself, but it is "one more nail" hammered into the coffin of Thailand's decreasing appeal to tourists worldwide.

Plenty of families come to the LoS, rent a villa or luxury suite and go trekking and elephant rides as a family, etc.  And some Asian tourists, like from China, who have a different understanding of "party" than Americans, Brits, Russians, and so on.

I'm sure price gouging does more to discourage tourists.  And for Chinese, the kidnapping and enslavement by telephone scammers is a real downer

Funny, admin has already caved and eliminated the 2-5pm ban so apparently I was more correct than you thought.  They also extended the 12am curfew to 1am.  I’m predicting this will also change to later as well.  Thailand is a great vacation destination that caters to many, but it’s also famous for sex tourism that provides a significant amount of the countries income. Alcohol mixes well with that… no pun intended.

also famous for sex tourism

With respect, there is no prostitution in Thailand, according to TAT!😄😄😆

Reference Google;-

prostitution is a significant and widely present phenomenon in Thailand, operating in a complex legal environment where the act of selling sex itself is not explicitly illegal, but related activities are.

Legal Status
Prostitution in Thailand operates in a legally gray area.
  • The act of prostitution is technically not illegal for the sex worker or the client.
  • Associated activities are prohibited: Public solicitation, pimping, brothel keeping, and profiting from the prostitution of others are illegal.
  • Establishment owners are liable: The law places responsibility on the owners of entertainment venues if prostitution occurs on their premises.
