Zohran Mamdani's fare-free NYC bus plan is a no go

Zohran Mamdani's promise to make buses fast and free during his tenure as New York City mayor has hit a bit of a speed bump after Gov. Kathy Hochul cast doubt about the plan over the weekend.

That campaign promise is already gone. Going to be an interesting experiment electing a socialist.

Surprising nobody.

I'd bet the poor people who voted for him would say differently. Let's just see who benefits from the tax increases he has planned.

Well I think they believe that he will fight hard for some small improvements and it's entirely possible that he will. He didn't promise any kind of revolution. If he's persistent in fighting hard it's likely he will be able to do some small things. Not many, but some. Will that be enough to keep him popular? Probably not. After all, he ran against crap candidates.

Which only confirms her own opinion.

We only have one confirmed opinion of the people who voted for Mamdani, it’s not negative.

It's just that free buses sounds like a doable campaign promise to keep. The gov didn't say anything neg till after he's elected.

As mayor, Mamdani would need the state legislature and the governor to approve a tax hike. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who endorsed Mamdani, has said she will not support a tax increase on the most wealthy, arguing she doesn’t want business leaders leaving the state.

The solution to the housing issue is build baby build.

Is he gonna give NY tenants more rights and rent control? That is working out fantastically in Toronto.

It works no where, yet they keep on trying.  LA just passed rent control.

Deport baby deport.

Give peace a chance. This is an opportunity to see if Mamdani can perform in the face of 'same way we always did it' opposition. In with the new, out with the old.

Recycling failed ideas is the way to success.
