A 73-year-old woman died after falling from a commuter train less than one kilometre before Ayutthaya Station on 22 November, in an incident witnessed by her granddaughter. The woman, who regularly travelled to sell vegetables and sticky-rice parcels at Chao Phrom Market, was reportedly swept off balance by a strong gust of wind while preparing to disembark. She fell onto the track and died at the scene.

Police and rescue teams from Ayutthaya Ruamjai Association and Ayutthaya Rescue arrived at the site at rail kilometre marker 72/16 in Moo 7, Hantra subdistrict, following notification from Pol Lt Witthawat On-Oeng, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station. The victim was identified as Samanuek Phokhavat, 73, of 53/1 Moo 4, Nong Khanak subdistrict, Phachi district. She was found lying face down between the rails, dressed in a black winter jacket, black tracksuit trousers and a face mask, with her stainless-steel tray and sticky-rice parcels scattered nearby.

A check of her belongings uncovered a mobile phone and 2,470 baht in cash, which officers secured as evidence. The incident occurred on commuter train No. 302 from Lopburi, which the victim and her granddaughter had boarded at Nong Wiwat Station in Phachi at around 05.30. The victim, who routinely gathered vegetables and made sticky-rice parcels for sale every two days, was standing near the right-side door with her produce bag when the fall occurred.

According to her granddaughter, Boonchuen Pongdara, the train was on a curved section of track where winds were strong. She said that, as they prepared to get off, the gust lifted the victim off balance, causing her to fall from the moving carriage. She immediately alerted train staff, disembarked at Ayutthaya Station, and returned to the location, where she found her grandmother had already died.

Manager Online reported that investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence while arranging further questioning of the granddaughter. Rescue personnel were instructed to transfer the body to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for post-mortem examination.
