Authorities have raided an unlicensed elderly care home in Bang Khen, Bangkok, after discovering that the facility had been operating illegally for over six months. Police from the Commercial Crime Suppression Division (CCSD) worked in conjunction with the Department of Health Service Support (DHSS) to execute a search warrant at the property on 22 November 2025. The operator, 26-year-old Poramet, was taken into custody for questioning.

The raid uncovered that the facility was providing elderly care services without the necessary health establishment licence. Investigators confirmed that the home was not registered with the DHSS and lacked authorisation to operate as a health service provider for senior citizens or individuals with dependency needs.

Poramet admitted during questioning that he had no prior experience in elderly care and had been running the operation for six months. He had established a limited company to give the business an appearance of legitimacy and charged clients 18,000 baht per month for care services. Authorities have charged him with operating a health service establishment, specifically an elderly care facility, without the required permit.

Officials emphasised that unlicensed care homes pose risks to the safety and well-being of elderly residents. The raid highlights ongoing concerns over the growth of informal eldercare operations in Bangkok and the need for strict regulatory enforcement. Experts have noted that licensing ensures standards for hygiene, staffing, and medical oversight, which are critical for vulnerable populations.

Daily News report that Poramet was taken to CCSD Division 4 for further legal proceedings. Authorities will continue investigations to determine if any other illegal operations are linked to the case. The DHSS and police have pledged to strengthen inspections of elderly care facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Those hospitals probably looked better when they were only 6 months old too.  I'm sure in a few years time it would have been looking much different.
