The Criminal Court has granted temporary release to Premchai Karnasuta, the 17th defendant and Kriangsak Kowattana, the 20th defendant, in the case concerning the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) building. Their release on 26 November 2025 immediately changed their custodial status, allowing both men to leave detention the same evening. The decision resulted in Kriangsak being released from the Bangkok Remand Prison, while Premchai, who had been receiving medical treatment at the Corrections Hospital, was also freed later that night.

The case relates to the OAG building collapse, in which a number of defendants, including Premchai and Kriangsak, had previously been held without bail. On 16 May 2025, the Criminal Court denied bail to all defendants involved and ordered every suspect into custody at the Bangkok Remand Prison under correctional supervision. That ruling had kept all accused parties detained while the investigation and legal process progressed.

Both defendants submitted formal applications requesting temporary release, which the court reviewed before issuing its decision on 26 November 2025. The approval represented a significant development in an ongoing criminal case involving multiple defendants and serious structural failure allegations. Their release also marked a departure from the earlier stance in May, when none of the accused were permitted bail.

The temporary release enables the two defendants to wait for further judicial proceedings outside of detention, potentially giving them greater access to legal support as they prepare their defence. It alters the dynamics of the case as not all defendants remain in custody, creating a shift in how the proceedings may unfold. The ruling does not dismiss any charges and both men remain legally bound to comply with all court requirements.

Daily News reported that future hearings and legal actions will continue through the Criminal Court as the case moves forward. The temporary release does not conclude the matter and long-term outcomes for all defendants will be determined by subsequent judicial decisions. Proceedings are expected to continue as the investigation and court process advance toward the next stages.

In other words, Premchai was admitted to the corrections hospital soon after being imprisoned.

I doubt very much if he ever spent a day in the actual prison.  A comfortable bed during his time.

As JimHH pointed out, no justice.
