A 21-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after falling from a moving pickup truck on Sukhumvit Road near Rong Po, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, on the evening of 26 November. Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched at 17.05, after reports of a person falling from a vehicle. The victim, identified only as Mr Tee, was found lying motionless in the road, struggling to breathe, prompting immediate first aid and urgent transfer to hospital.

At the scene, rescuers located a mattress and wooden bed frame that had fallen onto the roadside. A black Mitsubishi Triton pickup, registration from Bangkok, was parked nearby with its hazard lights on. Traffic control was required as volunteers secured the area to prevent further accidents during the rescue operation.

According to his employer, they had just purchased second-hand beds and bedding and Mr Tee was seated on top of the load to prevent it from shifting or blowing away. While driving, the employer noticed the mattress falling, with Mr Tee tumbling off the vehicle at the same moment. Bystanders quickly stepped in to stop traffic and call for emergency responders, helping to prevent a secondary collision.

TMN reported that police are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the incident, including potential safety breaches and load-securement issues. Officers will take statements from the employer and witnesses as part of standard procedure, before proceeding with legal actions.

Read 'precariously balanced on top as the driver was too lazy to tie the load down'.......

Further proof that there is no policing of the roads around Pattaya.

It takes 30 minutes to get to 2nd Road from Sukhumvit;  (according to whether it's an odd or even day.)  Part of the reason is the brainless driving occupying the striped boxes which are supposed to be kept clear to enable egress/ingress.  I make this journey three times a week and can count on the thumbs of one hand how many police I see working in a month.

LoS does not mean "Land of Safety"

yet in the end it was he who shifted and was blown away.

I was always cringe when I see people do this but they insist. Very well, it's their life.

I did not mention Thais (except obliquely) by talking of the lack of policing.

Downtown Pattaya is becoming a no-go area; I no go any more (unless extremely necessary).

Yesterday it was total gridlock - it took me 90 minutes to do a 25 minute journey.  I did however note a party of about ten police playing music, sheltering under giant brollies, all totally oblivious to the six lanes of stationary traffic 10 metres from their club.

The only other cop was at Tai/2nd Road lights where a plump specimen was 'fining' a farang on a motor bike ignoring the dozens of red light runners.

The 1000 baht no-helmet fine looks to have died a death; I counted about 50% compliance.

Not in the budget.  Too bad he couldn't have ridden the mattress like Aladin on his flying carpet.  It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Yes i would scold thai driving skills which by the way is zero, why do you think the roads in thailand are so dangerous Thais have NO driving skills that's why you see it in the news every day   do not stop at pedestrian crossing, run red lights  it goes on and on
