A residential rice-noodle shop in Pai district, Mae Hong Son province, exploded late on the morning of 6 December 2025, killing one woman and injuring two men. The blast occurred at around 10:30 behind Wat Najlong, where a pressure cooker used in the production process reportedly malfunctioned and detonated. Police, investigators and patrol units rushed to the scene to secure the area and assess the extent of the damage.

Officers arriving at house number 289, Moo 6, Mae Na Toeng subdistrict, found the shop interior destroyed by the force of the explosion. The deceased was identified as Ms Kingkaew Chanduon, 52, the shop owner who lived at the same address. Two injured men were also found: Mr Chamnong Thamson, her brother and Mr Worawit Kitam, her husband, both of whom were transported urgently to hospital.

According to witness Mr Wisut Phanwa, four people were inside the shop at the time, all helping with rice-noodle production. He stated that the electric pressure cooker suddenly exploded without warning, causing fatal injuries to Ms Kingkaew and harming the others nearby. Police said this preliminary account would form part of the formal investigation and would be cross-checked with technical evidence.

Investigators from Pai Police Station, including prevention officers and motorcycle patrols, worked alongside inquiry officers to document the scene. Authorities noted the structural damage indicated a high-pressure failure within the equipment. Officials have notified the regional forensics unit, which is expected to conduct a detailed inspection of the cooker and related electrical systems.

SiamRath reported that police confirmed they are preparing a full report for senior commanders as efforts continue to determine why the pressure system malfunctioned. Additional statements will be taken from witnesses and family members once their conditions stabilise. Further updates are expected once forensic specialists complete their examination and confirm the exact cause of the explosion.
