Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has set a 14-day deadline for Hat Yai to recover from recent flooding, with efforts focused on cleaning and rehabilitation. The Prime Minister, also the interior minister, visited the affected area in Songkhla province and praised the unified efforts of rescuers and volunteers, demonstrating strong national solidarity.

Anutin attended a meeting at the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command, reviewing the situation and calling for enhanced restoration efforts. Coordination among agencies was emphasised as essential to the rebuild. After the meeting, Anutin led a team of over 1,000 officials and volunteers to Kim Yong Market to assess progress, particularly in removing debris and household waste left by the floods.

Electricity and water services have been nearly fully restored, with ongoing efforts to clean homes, markets, and public spaces by the deadline. Anutin acknowledged residents' stress and urged officials to handle disputes professionally. Most financial aid has been distributed to affected residents, with the remaining payments expected to be finalised next week.

Further assistance will be discussed at the upcoming Cabinet meeting, addressing business aid, insurance claims, and potential tax relief. An aerial image from the Kho Hong mountain viewpoint showed most of Hat Yai's power has returned, underscoring recovery progress reported by The THaiger.

Key Takeaways:

  • PM Anutin sets a 14-day recovery target for Hat Yai's flood recovery.
  • Restoration includes nearly complete electricity and water restoration.
  • Financial aid distribution is nearing completion, with further support planned.

Why is the military not there helping ?

14 days?   Good luck on that!!

Maybe if more government personnel and resources where sent then 14 days maybe achievable.

Just causes resentment in recovery teams as well with the deadline.
