Police General Surachate 'Big Joke' Hakparn

The Thai Police Ethics Committee has dismissed the appeal of Police General Surachate 'Big Joke' Hakparn and four others over their dismissal from the Royal Thai Police force. They were dismissed due to alleged involvement in an online gambling site known as "BNKMASTER."

On 8th December, it was confirmed that the ethics committee's decision came after an appeal review meeting on 4th December. The National Police Chief, Surachate Hakparn, had signed an order on 11th March leading to their dismissal starting 18th April 2024. This decision followed serious disciplinary allegations linking the officers to illegal activities.

The decision to stand by the dismissal was deemed legally sound after assessing the facts and laws involved. The committee found the initial order appropriate, rejecting the appeal of Surachate and the other involved officers. The dismissal resulted from a previous investigation citing severe disciplinary breaches.

The officers involved, alongside Surachate Hakparn, are:

  1. Pol Col Kittichai Sangkhatawan
  2. Pol Lt Col Krit Pariyaket
  3. Pol Snr Sgt Maj Nattawut Watwaew
  4. Pol Snr Sgt Maj Nattanun Chuchak

They were accused of being connected to the online gambling operation, "BNKMASTER," and faced criminal charges. A criminal court had also issued warrants concerning charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering against them. These acts were highlighted as serious breaches of the National Police Act of 2022.

Despite the dismissal of the appeal, Surachate Hakparn and the others are still entitled to file a case with the Supreme Administrative Court. They have a 90-day period from the notification of the decision to take legal action if they choose to fight the ruling.

Key Takeaways

  • The appeal dismissal upholds the dismissal of five police officers.
  • Allegations include involvement in serious criminal activities.
  • Legal avenues remain, with the option to approach the Supreme Administrative Court.

Yep, the dismissal was based on exactly that, and how can they stand by that, when he has been cleared, which means no wrongdoing. That in return, means that the wrongdoing was to dismiss them from the RTP, as it was based on false information according to the court.
