So.

What is the status of the three on the bike.

Anybody actually watch the CCTV? 🤔   Clearly the driver of the pickup is responsible as he did not give way to the oncoming motorbike before making a right turn

  • I implore any of the parents tuned in.  If you have kids around that age, (and you can afford it) buy them an old beater- a bigass car or a pickup.  Even if they don't have a license yet.

  • Two problems/issues here:   1. intersection is well lit, motorcycle appears out of the dark with minimal front light - difficult to see for the pick-up driver   2. Motorcycle is dr

The helmet law seems only to be enforced to foreigners, who all are expected to carry plenty of cash for immediate payment.

Because farangy's are supposed to have more sense, so, to ride a bike with a crash hat on in LOS..............😉

The pickup is following the road not crossing lanes, unfortunately the newly tarred road to the left of the picture is an adjoining road, but because of the recent surfacing the lane markings have been covered.

So you reckon the accident was caused by the Road Maintenance men who had not re-painted the markings?

The truck TURNED into the path of the bike which had a light on, even I can see the bike coming........🤫

Sorry I wasted your time with my opinion, especially the light on bit..😒

I agree with you transam. Light on m/c clearly visible, no markings to show right of way, p-up turned across the path of the m/c.

I do not condone one bit three kids riding a m/c, but neither the truck driver's action.

Looks like the motorbike's light is ON.

Truck did not yield to the motorbike.

I will be surprised if any of the kids survived this.

Lack of attention from both sides.

There is no working light on the front of that motorbike which is quite the fashion lately. The image below shows the point at where the front light reflector begins to reflect light sources from ahead. Modern TV cameras are excellent at picking up low light sources.

A working motorcycle light will saturate the camera.

This is crazy.

However, I will now be on the look-out for these clear tail-lights.

Any other strange things you might report will be most appreciated, concerning lights on vehicles designed or modified to fool ghosts, only, of course.

Thai neighbours moved their driveway to the other side of their property as it was previously opposite a junction/corner where " ghosts" congregate.

Yep, I also think the truck and the bike should have approached the junction with a bit of caution, especially if they were all locals. I think the truck driver now has a few problems to deal with......🥴

Well spotted, but no excuse for the truck driver.

I totally agree and a bike rider should not automatically assume a vehicle turning ahead will wait for them. I think most of us know why these accidents occur so frequently.

A look at Google maps shows clearly the truck is on the major road and continuing along the major road which veers off to his right at the Y junction.

The motorcycle is approaching the Y junction from a minor road, and passes an obscured stop sign.

Additionally, road marking hasn't been carried out after remedial work.

Motorbike with no headlight.

Underage rider with 2 pillion passengers.

No doubt the driver of the truck will be under scrutiny by the Police, however, to date, no information is forthcoming.

Perfect storm for tragedy and increased road toll.

That is a <deleted>ty junction, many locals know the right of way is the route the pick-up took, but since the other lane has been recently tarred it mistakenly looks like that lane has right of way, no clear road markings. There are a few junctions like that unfortunately.

Looking at it again, there are no road markings evident. The way the road is surfaced looks like straight ahead has right of way. Poor road design and markings are definitely an issue too.

I would not like to be on that road, at night, with no markings, straight-on tarmac, and youngsters riding m/cs.

So they can go kill other folks kids rather than just killing themselves?!

Like I said, in a country where underage drivers are a normal thing, there are no good solutions.

But I'd bet that the parents of the scooter people in the OP wish their kids had been in a 4 wheeler with seatbelts.

the only fault of the bike was having <deleted>ty lights, it is understandable the car didnt see the bike,

bikes are evidently already difficult for cars to spot, which is why there are so many accidents in LOS,

not having perfect lights in poor visibility conditions takes bad odds to worse

Seatbelts - - what seatbelts, the things that hang on the door pillars.

More detective work on this quiet Sunday.

From the motorcycle side STOP SIGN

From all other sides there are orange warning signs VEHICLES ENTERING JUNCTION

If the stop and warning signs were 2 meters wide it would make little difference.

i have never seen so rotten placement of a stop sign, and i lived in SE asia 20 years.

now i blame whatever office is in charge of road layout and traffic sign placement, only a red light would work here

The blacktop had a continuous yellow centre line for the direction of flow through the junction, the side street where the truck turned, has a white painted stop box for those coming out of it. In earlier photos, a bike was waiting to exit there.

It looks like the STOP sign is misplaced, wrong, or related to the possible flashing red lights overhead, also has no road markings to show where to stop....🤗

I guess the locals got more confused as time went by.

From that picture it is obvious that the pickup never had right of way, because there is a full yellow line, so the truck was not following the road.

Some people here who claim to know it all about that junction can eat crow

This photo clearly shows that there is a constant yellow line on the road the m/c was on, and a line across the road coming into the side, there is even a car stopped at that line.

And a sign in the second one warning the drivers that there is traffic entering that junction. OK, there is a Stop sign about 3 metres above the m/c's road.

Hey, where I live, there are 30 signs on blue circular posts either side of many schools. Blue 30 means MINIMUM speed. 555

If the stop and warning signs were 2 meters wide it would make little difference.

If the pick up driver is not drunk, has a licence, car registered and 13 year old kid or under-age person driving the bike, then they must be at fault as they shouldn't be on the road. If they weren't on the road, no accident. 🙂

Historical imagery shows it to be that way from the time the road was first paved. The local Thesaban get good commission from road signs and markings so they just slap them anywhere when the budget arrives.

I must have a different Google maps to you.

My experience is that they like to slap those signs in a way that blocks the view as well. lol

Apart from that, I can't read what is written in Thai on the orange sign, but which would have priority, the sign or the road markings?

well how far away from home would you expect 3 kids to venture on a motorcycle at night?

Did you not sit through the video in order to get your licence?

To wherever the nearest 7/11 is, which in my case would be 13 km.

That clearly shows the bike and car were travelling on the main road with markings, which means the truck cut in front of the bike whilst making a right turn, the bike, sadly, had nowhere to go.....😬
