Alternative to Skype - Sproutcall

Featured Replies

Just for info:

I have been using Sproutcall who are based in Denmark for some while now.

Local calls to Thailand are 4b a minute whereas call to the UK and US are 1b a minute.

Excellent audio.

One of Skype's most useful features was the ability to have it throw my US cell number for caller ID purposes.  When I dialed up my bank (or anyone else for that matter), they knew it was me calling.

Is that a feature of Sproutcall?

Yes, according to their website.

Good info.  Thanks for that.  I'll look into that when I hit Thailand on Thursday.

But, does it offer a dedicated number? Voicemail? SMS?

And if it does offer dedicated number are they available for multiple countries?

Most countries, and some states within them, regulate the "termination" charge in the CALLED country. Hence, the per-minute fee is usually universally the same across most VoIP service providers.

Skype had a web site where you supposedly could use your credit to make calls.  I call my U.S. bank from time to time.

SKYPE is now called TEAMS

I was a Skype user for 15 years but when Microsoft changed it to Teams I left because you have to choose a monthly subscription that has to be paid every month whether you use it or not . Teams is really aimed at businesses for virtual conferences .  It is free for the private use , providing that you are contacting another Team member  ( I believe ) .

For just making general calls to contacts who are not using Whats-app / Line etc I can thoroughly recommend     MYTELLO . To call the UK from Thailand on a mobile phone it is 1.5 baht a minute . Using a landline it is o.3 baht a minute .
