Trump - war and peace

Featured Replies

After his televised evening diatribe to the American people on the eve of 17 December, let's have an another look at what Trump has accomplished as a 'peace maker'. He said he has brokered 8 peace deals. I won't go into all of that, but just concentrate on the broader/bigger picture of what he's done since running on a promise to disengage America's military from foreign conflicts.

First, while he hasn't started any wars yet, we're waiting for that to happen in Venezuela. Wouldn't US troops on the ground there be a complete 180 from what he promised?

Second, while he didn't mention them specifically, Trump is giving nearly $100 billion in arms to Taiwan - a direct challenge to China - that has a 1 trillion dollar trade surplus and holds a considerable amount of USD debt. Why provoke China? What's in it for Americans, other than the arms industry?

Third, he changed the name of the Dept of Defense to the Dept of War. Uh....what??

Fourth, he has threatened to take Greenland away from Denmark by force if necessary

Fifth, he has threatened to wipe out Canada economically through sanctions to a point (he thinks) will leave Canada no other choise than to enter into a '51st State' type arrangement

Sixth, Trump sends his son in law Jared to negotiate with Putin an end to the war in Ukraine. But upon reading the details of these interventions, the US seems almost like a proxy negotiator for Russia's interests

Seventh, same can be said for intervening in the Israeli-Gaza conflict, where Israel is systematically killing off or diplacing (permanently) the population of Gaza, where both Trump and Netanyahu think it would be great for Trump to turn Gaza into Casino-Resort land - with no Palestinnians. Again, the US - as ever - is not an honest broker when it comes to Israel - always protecting the interests of nationalist Jew over those of Palestinians.

Eighth, he bombs Iran (for Israel)

Ninth, he intervenes in the Cambodia - Thai conflict -- nuff said.
