Thailand’s Anti-Online Scam Centre (ACSC) has joined forces with Meta and international law enforcement partners to disrupt major online scam networks operating across South East Asia. The coordinated action, carried out in Bangkok, has led to the removal of tens of thousands of scam-linked online assets and strengthened cross-border enforcement against transnational cybercrime.

The operation was announced on Friday, 19 December 2025, by the Royal Thai Police through the ACSC. The initiative was directed by Pol Gen Thana Chuwong, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and Director of the Royal Thai Police Online Scam Operations Centre, together with Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Bhuridej, Assistant Commissioner-General and Deputy Director of the centre.

The collaboration brought together Meta and several global law enforcement agencies. These included the United States Scam Center Strike Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations, the US Secret Service, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Crime Intelligence Commission and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency. The Singapore Police Force also joined discussions addressing online crime affecting victims across multiple countries.

The partners conducted a special operation known as “Joint Disruption Week” in Bangkok, which resulted in a significant crackdown on transnational online scam networks. Authorities said the week-long effort demonstrated the importance of close cooperation, intelligence sharing and technical expertise in tackling increasingly complex online fraud operations.

As part of the joint action, more than 59,000 fake and high-risk pages were removed. These included Facebook accounts linked to money laundering activities and illegal job recruitment schemes connected to scam networks operating in the region.

The collaboration also led to the development of joint detection systems capable of blocking more than 4,000 scam advertisements per day. In addition, authorities identified six key suspects, including job brokers linked to scammer networks based in Cambodia, with law enforcement preparing to carry out immediate arrests.

Officials said the results highlight Thailand’s growing role as a regional leader in combating online scams and transnational cybercrime in South East Asia. The ACSC noted that sustained cooperation between public authorities and global technology platforms is essential to protect victims and disrupt criminal business models.

Naewna reported thst the ACSC confirmed plans to expand cooperation with Meta and international law enforcement partners throughout 2026. Future initiatives will include additional joint suppression activities and invitations to other leading technology companies to join ongoing efforts to protect Thai citizens and the global public from online threats.
