Local Disk D.

Featured Replies

My local disk D on my desk top is completely empty. That's the first time ever I have seen this.

What should I use or not use it for? Thanks.

Are you running two disk drives, or one disk drive with a partition?

If two disk drives, perhaps the second drive has died.  You will need to replace it.

If only one disk drive, seems strange you lose all the data on one partition, but not the other.

I don't think he lost any data.  Seems like he's saying it the first time he's noticed D being there.

Errrr, he said it's the first time he has seen the D drive completely empty, so, I would think he has seen it with some data in the past.

Yes re-reading it seems that is correct.

I was agreeing with you.

It's a forum, we don't always need to help, at times we can be in agreement.

In October 2025, I replied to one of your posts with:

"It seems you get lots of problems with your computer... In order to get rid of all of them, I'd recommend the following:

1. Back up the files you want to keep on an external disk

2. Do a fresh Windows 11 install (with a legit Win 11 version of course!)

3. Install the apps you need (get them from a reputable source) BUT ONLY the apps you DO need (eg: no need to have multiple browsers...)

4. Don't touch anyrhing AND DON'T TRY any new "interesting app"

5. If you really fancy to experiment "new things", use a DISTINCT machine for it (= the "Test Computer")

6, Once you're happy with your machine, put back the files you backed up.

7. Try to elevate your IT knowledge by reading IT books."

It appears you're still stuck at the same level.

I have to depend on this forum a lot now as all my farang friends have either died or moved away. Please bare with me on this.

Not unusual to have empty drives, I have quite a few. Depends on where you put or save stuff...🤗

and i want to emphasize on an advice -1. Back up the files you want to keep on an external disk

so that means buy an external disk, plug it in the USB, and start copying asap
