Police in Khon Kaen arrested a 16-year-old motorcyclist after he performed a dangerous wheelie in the middle of a city junction, leading to the seizure of his motorcycle and the filing of charges. The incident occurred in the early hours of 21 December 2025 and prompted immediate police action to prevent potential harm to other road users. Officers confirmed the rider admitted the offence and was taken into custody for further legal proceedings.

The incident took place at around 00.15 on 21 December 2025 at the Sri Chan–Chataphadung intersection in Khon Kaen municipality. Pol Lt Col Methi Sriwanna, Deputy Superintendent of Crime Suppression at Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, was leading a patrol targeting modified and racing motorcycles in the area. While several youths were waiting at a red light on Sri Chan Road, one rider accelerated sharply and lifted the front wheel of his motorcycle as the light turned green.

The motorcycle involved was a red and black Honda Wave 110i with Khon Kaen registration number. The rider performed the stunt amid moving traffic, creating a hazardous situation for other motorists at the intersection. Police officers stationed on the opposite side of the junction immediately pursued the motorcycle and ordered the rider to stop.

The rider was identified as a 16-year-old male, referred to only as Mr A, from Phra Lap subdistrict in Mueang Khon Kaen district. He was taken to Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station for questioning, where he confessed to lifting the front wheel of the motorcycle. He told officers he acted out of youthful bravado after being encouraged by friends and wanted to show off to female friends and his group.

A search of the suspect found no illegal items. Pol Lt Col Methi stated that the teenager was formally charged with reckless driving that endangered others and failed to consider public safety. Police informed him of his legal rights, contacted his parents and seized the motorcycle as evidence for further investigation.

Daily News reported that authorities said the case would proceed in accordance with the law, with investigators handling the next steps. Police reiterated that such behaviour poses serious risks and confirmed that enforcement operations against dangerous driving would continue in Khon Kaen. The teenager remains subject to legal processes following the involvement of his parents.
