A 43-year-old man was shot dead after calling a close friend to meet and clear up an alleged love triangle dispute in Phanat Nikhom district, Chonburi province, prompting a police manhunt for the suspected gunman. The shooting occurred on 21 December 2025, leaving the victim dead at the scene and triggering a forensic investigation in a residential village.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Nuntaphon Nainaboon, an investigating officer at Phanat Nikhom Police Station, received a report of a fatal shooting at Ban Chum Saeng village, Moo 10, Mon Nang sub-district. Officers and rescue workers from Sawang Hae Thung Hieng Foundation found the body of Mr Hong, aged 43, lying in a pool of blood with three gunshot wounds to the torso.

A white four-wheel box truck was parked nearby with a bullet hole through the driver’s side door and a baseball bat belonging to the victim was found close to the body. Police also recovered three spent cartridges of an unknown calibre at the scene and later found a black bag inside the truck containing a firearm magazine and one live round.

According to Ms A, aged 33, the victim’s wife, the incident followed accusations that she was having an affair with Mr Kai, a close friend of her husband. She said her husband claimed to have evidence of the alleged relationship and asked for the matter to be resolved through a face-to-face meeting.

Ms A stated that while she and her child were attending a local fair, her husband contacted Mr Kai and asked him to come and talk. When the two men met, she had returned and an argument escalated into a heated confrontation. She told police she then heard three gunshots and turned to see her husband collapse beside the baseball bat. Mr Kai fled the scene immediately and Ms A contacted police and emergency services, but her husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the case appears to stem from a personal dispute, with investigators focusing on the events leading up to the confrontation. Officers are gathering witness statements, examining ballistic evidence and reviewing the items recovered from the vehicle to establish the sequence of events.

Khoasod reported that authorities are now working to locate and arrest Mr Kai, who remains at large, and will also re-interview Ms A as part of the investigation. Police said legal proceedings will follow once the suspect is apprehended and the motive is fully established.

These 'meetings' to resolve a love triangle frequently seem to end in serious injury or death for one of the parties involved. I don't think I will turn up if one is ever suggested to me!

You know the saying here, "Keep your enemies close, and you friends out of "range."

Woman sleeping around, but not with just anyone.

With her husband's friend to make the guy even more enraged.

correct. thihis would be the norm

Never meet up with anyone to discuss a love triangle is what I'm getting from this.

It's a trap.

What a dunce. WE have to be very judicious, WE have to be very discriminating, WE have to qualify them extensively, WE have to spend a long time getting to know them and WE have to make a decision as to whether or not they're worthy of our attention. If they're not we just move on and if they are then we enjoy a wonderful life with them. Many of us have great gals that were enjoy being with everyday and if she's not making the quality of your life better, if she's not making you a better version of yourself daily, it's your responsibility to move on, and if you don't you are the one to blame, not her. She is who she is. How well have you selected?

And if she is seeing someone else, man up and move on. Don't be a fool.

Humiliation and betrayal x2.  Someone was going to die that night. Should have been the whore wife.  Better to take the kid and leave her. The gunslinger would have used her for fun and thrown her aside like the trash she is once he was sick of her.
