Marriage extension

Featured Replies

Hi, considering that my IO can take up to one month to process my application, when would you have gone to immigration for renewal ?

If you do the extension after 90 report window opens (jan 3) then you could do the extension + report at same visit to immigration.

Edit: I looked at your stamp too quickly. That is an old stamp.

Assume your current stamp shows expiry 18 jan 2026

You can apply for an extension all the way until the last day of your stay.  You are not showing your current stamp, since the ones in the photo expired in January 2025, but I'll assume your new one just goes until January 2026.

Yes, marriage extension have an "under consideration" period, but that doesn't change when you can apply.  You'll just get a new under consideration stamp in  you passport which acts as a temporary extension until you get the full one.

Reports are that the Trat immigration office allows you to apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp.

So you could have applied any time after Dec 18th, and as people pointed out you can apply right up until the day your current stamp runs out (which going by your stamp from last year should be Jan 18th)

And as was also pointed out you could apply any time after they reopen from the new year holiday (Jan 5th) and do your 90 day reporting at the same time.

Just curious, do you live in Trat province of you use an agent to get those stamps?

I ask because that's a known "no go/no show"  agent gotten stamps location (meaning only your passport goes to that office, you don't..

no disrespect intended in my query, just was curious (which as a rule is only fatal to cats 😉 )

Whoops I did post the wrong years stamp, but the dates are the same, Thanks for your replies yes I do live in Trat Province, and no I do not use an agent, I live on Koh Chang, but there are two reasons I use Trat office not the 'service point' on KC, my bank is in Trat, and KC are just a bunch of corrupt wonkers, Trat office only charge 1,900 all docs are left with the nice officer there while we have lunch, on return all forms are filled out and I only have to initial them all, KC want 2,300b and 100b for a 90day report that I refuse to pay and after reporting them no longer have to, but they all still have their jobs raking in thousands every day......

You are not alone in the line of thought that the renegade immigration office on Elephant Island, is less than a model of efficiency and transparency... 😛

Best of luck with it, totally makes sense to use the main Trat office..

Of course the stupid thing is that Trat have to travel to KC for the home visit at their cost, they told me my wife can go to Trat on her motorbike to collect the final stamp, 16th Jan.

Just to say KC say "oh but we have air con. or pay the ferry then and to go to Trat" ok rant over...
