Foreign cheques

Featured Replies

It used to be possible to pay a cheque from a foreign bank to a Thai bank, it would take about 6 weeks to clear.

Is it still doable.?

Yes I know I could ask my bank here first but it's late at night and it was on my mind. Thanks all.

In my experience, Bangkok Bank will accept government and corporate checks and will send them for collection. It normally takes between two and three weeks for the funds to be deposited.

Bangkok Bank will not accept personal checks.

Not sure about other banks, but I suspect their policies would probably be similar.

Gracious me, I have been "out of the loop" vis a vis UK banking for 15 years or so - are they still a feature of banking?

I've still got a chequebook for my UK account somewhere!

Why would you tie up cash for weeks, waiting to pay for something, or transferring to yourself, when there is a better way?  Makes no sense.
