A tragic bus accident in Lao Cai's Phinh Ho Commune resulted in the deaths of 9 people and injured 9 others on Saturday morning. The 29-seat bus, carrying a group of teachers on a charity trip from Hanoi, overturned after crashing into a guardrail. The accident occurred on a sloped road connecting National Highway 32 and Provincial Road 174 in Yen Bai Province.

The teachers were en route to Ta Ghenh village school, part of the Hoa Mi Kindergarten, for volunteer work when the incident happened. Emergency teams promptly arrived, extracting the victims and transporting the injured to local hospitals for treatment. The bus was severely damaged, lying overturned with debris scattered across the site.

Initial investigations indicate the bus might have suffered brake failure while descending the slope. The crash involved approximately 50 meters of guardrail before the vehicle flipped. Authorities continue to assess the exact cause while offering support to the victims' families.

Experts have raised concerns over vehicular safety, particularly the importance of regular maintenance and rigorous checks for vehicles operating in mountainous regions. This incident has prompted renewed scrutiny on road safety protocols and vehicle operation standards. Communities across Vietnam have expressed their condolences for the victims' families.

Looking forward, the investigation will seek to confirm the precise reasons behind the brake failure. Authorities plan to implement stricter safety measures and inspections for vehicles traveling in similar terrains. Additionally, support initiatives for the affected families are underway as part of the community response, reported VN Express.
