A Myanmar man was left injured after being attacked with a machete by his wife at a rented room in Samut Prakan on 31 December, prompting an urgent emergency response and hospitalisation.

Rescue radio centre Prakan received a report of a serious assault at a dormitory in Soi Bearing 2, Samrong Nuea subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Prakan province, and coordinated with Ruamkatanyu Foundation staff to attend the scene. Medics found a 43-year-old Myanmar man lying in a pool of blood near a bathroom, suffering severe wounds to both ankles and his left arm.

Emergency responders provided first aid before rushing the victim to Samut Prakan Hospital for life-saving treatment. A grass-cutting machete stained with blood was recovered beside the bathroom and secured as evidence by police.

The suspect was identified as the victim’s 40-year-old wife, also a Myanmar national, who was present at the scene. Investigators noted clear signs of a struggle in the room, with belongings scattered and blood on the floor near the bathroom.

According to initial questioning, the woman said the couple had argued repeatedly because her husband was unfaithful. She stated that he had worked in the area for several years and often returned home looking for arguments, while also withholding his wages and leaving her with significant debts.

The woman told police she has three children and earns a monthly salary of 10,000 baht, which she said was barely sufficient to cover household expenses. She claimed her husband would stay with other women when she was not at home and that she discovered him sleeping with another woman on the day of the incident.

“Today I caught him sleeping with another woman. He has done this to me many times. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I used the knife, but I didn’t intend to kill him. I only meant to teach him a lesson,” she said.

Police are continuing their investigation while the victim remains under medical care. Legal proceedings will follow based on the man’s condition and the outcome of further questioning.

Authorities said the case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic disputes escalating into severe violence, particularly among vulnerable migrant communities. Support services and legal processes are expected to be engaged as the case progresses. Daily News reported that officers will gather additional evidence, interview witnesses, and assess charges once medical updates are received from the hospital.
