For those that enjoy "True Story" based films, I watched "Hacksaw Ridge" last night, really good movie, nice blend of content if your watching with your other half. A good and interesting story, good and very realistic action sequences for a war movie. IMDB 8.1

I did post a short while ago about that movie @CharlieH and stated that it was one of the best war movies I'd ever seen, and that it was a true story made it more amazing.

New. Looks like it might be fun. Dropping now.

Lieutenant Troy Brennan takes part in a top secret surveillance mission over Soviet airspace. Things take a sharp turn, however, when he is forced to eject from his plane over the Russian wilderness. He is rescued by a paradoxical Russian native and the two begin to appreciate both their differences and commonalities.

The Mongoose. Liam Neeson is worth around 140 million dollars, why does he need to make this rubbish? I couldn't sit through 10 minutes of it.

... "Typical Pay Rate: Studios generally pay Liam Neeson between $10 million and $20 million per movie based on his strong international box office history and bankable action star status" ...

Pricey cast ...

Torrents out already ... ticket sales ... OUCH

He's not doing his bankable status any favors by making this dross.

Pretty hard to turn down a few mill thrown your way.

Dude is 74, what does he care about that?

I do not think he is a great actor, but he is a good actor, and it's not like it's his fault the movies are cra*p.

Indeed, and to do what?

Definitely better since he's in, rather than an unknown. Hence the paycheck. Got a decent supporting cast also, in this one.

2 months work, not a bad per day salary ... $16,666 a day, if only 1M payday, for 2 months work.

Because they pay him big bucks, we can probably assume you’d do the same.

Why not, he’s nearing the end and it’s all a bonus anymore.

"Highly decorated combat vet, Ryan ''Fang'' Flanagan...."

I've seen enough

Exactly, and does he have time to spend the extra 10 or 20 mil he's getting paid on top of the 140 mil he already has?

Guy Ritchies The Gentleman, season 2 is now available.

Not my business, though some work as a hobby, you know, as in staying busy and interacting with others.

All hasbeens that haven't made a decent movie in 20 years.

He does read a script I assume.

A wee bit obsessed with Liam, don't ya think.

I can't knock a guy who spends a lot of his time, with Pamula, and assuming a bit of that payday, with all the 'worthwhile' charities he supports: kids, malnutrition, poverty, and actual important things, that make a real difference.

You do realize, it's just a job. Here's a script, can you pull it off, and we'll pay you this much.

Not different than a tradesman, here's a blueprint, specs, for a project, can you build or fix this, we'll pay you this much for it.

Every job isn't going to be a blockbuster, thought provoking or humanitarian project, especially for a 74 yr old. It's a job.

You did start to watch it, why, yea ... salary earned.

Michael Caine once said, "I look at the script and then I look at the cheque".

Hard to blame them TBH.

Just watched Mayday.

Surprisingly entertaining.

Any series on the level of Fargo and True Detective and last 10 years?

Just binge watched series 2, brilliant, and Vinnie Jones must get the supporting actor award, if there is one, outstanding.

Do you remember the UK TV series from 1985 on which this is apparently based? Same director as well. Very dark.

That was an excellent TV series with a surprising twist. I thought the old serial was better than the newer movie.

LA Confidential is on HBO streaming TV .... yes, seen it many times, but it's so watchable.

Rubbish is a bit harsh and don't know how you could stop watching in <10 mins and form any opinion.

Was it good, well, I finished it. Give it 5/10, though someone into cars & car chases might up it to 6+.

One major plus, about the most unwoke movie I've seen in a long long long time. No gay or interracial couple, no handicapped, no women in power, and all the white males weren't bad guys.

James Ellroy who wrote the book is a brilliant author!!

Just finished East Bound and Down, loved it, couldn't stop laughing 😆
