Another old one (2024) that's new to me...

The Marlow Murders...

Judith, Suzie and Becks start an investigation. To assist with official police investigation, headed by Tanika, They must suspect witnesses, and face down real danger as they work against the clock to stop the killer in their tracks.

I quietly enjoyed Season 1... Season 3 was released in the UK in March but not released in the US for another week so it might be popping up on other's radar soon as well...

how woke is it on a scale of 1-10? Genuine question. (In its promotion I see only women, three no less!)

There’s nothing “Woke” per se about it but if that concerns you this is probably not one for you as it’s a simple “Miss Marple” style detective series & very PG.

As I said, I quietly enjoyed it even chuckled in parts which is more than I can say for so called comedies like “Benidorm is Murder” or “Stuart fails to save the Universe”.

On a completely different topic, Back to the “Paradise” TV series season 2 has improved but it’s clearly a filler season to bridge to Season 3 so need to persevere a little.

The Audacity

In the bubble of Silicon Valley, the unorthodox relationship between a wannabe tech titan and his therapist illustrate the Valley's madness and failings.

Agreed, excellent.

The Weight...

Desperate to save what is left of his family, during the height of the Great Depression a battle-scarred veteran is hired to help smuggle a fortune in gold across 100 miles of impenetrable wilderness.

I downloaded and watched a movie which came to mind recently, called, "Edge of Darkness" and it starred Mel Gibson and I enjoyed it, and for the record I've enjoyed just about every Mel Gibson movie I've ever seen, going back as far as the early days of "Mad Max", through "Braveheart" and also "Conspiracy Theory" amongst others.

On the subject of the movie, Edge of Darkness, which is about corporate greed and mischief, I then looked at a documentary on BBC iPlayer called, "Buried" starring Michael Sheen (two episodes) and it was quite frightening and dealt with the company Monsanto and its dumping of PCB material throughout the Welsh countryside when it had manufacturing facilities therein.

What was more frightening was the fact that despite evidence which was gathered by investigators and a couple working in conjunction with a university, when presented to the Welsh authorities, they dismissed it as not dangerous, but several of the investigators were locals who had succumbed to various cancers, some very rare, and IMO it seemed like a huge cover-up. Well worth a watch.

Dark Matter........ Season 2 has just dropped -if you are into Sci Fi

Proud

Polish tv series.

Wow.

Only watched the first episode so far but so much happened in that one first episode.

I thought the show took a downturn when Malcom X was replaced, I think Nigel Thatch got the pace of his voice to perfection, he even looked like Malcom X. The replacement was one of the worst continuity mistakes ever.

A tad overdramatic I would say. Currently watching series 3 and you would hardly notice the difference between the two actors although, I would agree that Nigel Thatch is better in the role.

This looks interesting. Available now.

The Brink of War

The Game

Episode 1 of Season 2 has just dropped but I can't remember how Season 1 ended (Though I do remember enjoying it) or whether I was expecting a Season 2 so I'm off to watch the final episode of Season 1 again before starting it...

Knox Goes Away, JFK, The Burbs, Patriot's Day, man Without a Face, Leap of Faith, Out To Sea, Wyatt Earp, The Ref.

Just watched Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly. Never knew her husband was on the Aussie section committee for the break dance team. Anyway it looked like she was looking for either sympathy or understanding? Either way it was like watching an unintended comedy.

Yeah - pretty intense, some relevant material there - child exploitation, sex trafficking, domestic violence, emotional control - I'm up to e03 where she visits the mother of her ex boyfriend. Well worth a look.

My calendar says the whole series of The Gentlemen should be available today.

I watched "The Pastor's Wife" docu on Netflix. Basically a mentally ill woman, Mica, who was institutionalised before she married this Pastor, JT. She got institutionalised 2 more times and then called police that she would kill herself. They tried to frame the pastor for the murder, but he had an iron clad alibi, as he was at a soccer game, so they couldn't but they went after him for stalking instead.

Quite scary to see how crazy women can get, and that they still have the support of most other women then, despite being totally whacko.

Do you remember the UK TV series from 1985 on which this is apparently based? Same director as well. Very dark.

Don't remember that one @topt as I had emigrated to New Zealand at that time. Still, the movie was very good IMO.

Also watched, "The Italian Job" with Michael Caine recently and tonight caught, "The French Connection" on BBC iPlayer, with Gene Hackman and enjoyed it yet again.......great movie.
