What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2026)

Featured Replies

I downloaded and watched a western called, "The Long Riders" last night even though I watched it some 40 years ago (I think) and what a movie that was........the action and stunt work was the best I have ever seen and the movie got better the longer it went on! Walter Hill was the director and the scenes around the Northfield bank robbery were absolutely amazing. Worth another watch IMO.

As per a recommendation on here (can't remember who, sorry) I watched the movie "633 Sqadron" and enjoyed it and I wasn't worried about some aspects of the cinematography because I thought the whole movie was good! The backing music was also very good and "stirring", but the blonde woman who was sister of the Norwegian officer did look like a man on some camera angles!!!

If you liked 633 Squadron, you should watch Bombardment. It's on Netflix and probably other platforms.

It shows the Mosquito raids from a different angle.

I agree.
My question would be whether the review was influenced by socio-ideological bias. Not necessarily consciously, of course.

I'll ask Occam.

Every review is influenced by socio-ideological bias.

I just watched "The Whisper Man" and it was just ok.

No real surprises and pretty weak all the way through, but it was watchable. 5/10

Drops of God is a quite brilliant movie, especially if you enjoy red wine and all the tasting that is part and parcel of its mystique.

I had been looking to find this on several occasions when it was mentioned in the past but failed to find an English version - is there one?

Just finished the second series of Godfather of Harlem on Amazon Prime. Four series in total (series one in 2019) Really enjoying it.

The story of Ellsworth 'Bumpy' Johnson who was a crime boss in Harlem in the 1960's. Forest Whitaker in the lead role but also starring Vincent D'Onofrio who I think is a terrific actor (thoroughly enjoyed everything I have seen him in). First time I have seen Ilfenesh Hadera who plays Bumpy's wife and I must admit, I'm a bit smitten (but don't tell the Mrs).

IMDb rating of 8.1. I don't know if it is available on any platforms other than Amazon Prime. Looking forward to watching the final two series. I am aware that the actor playing one of the lead characters (Malcolm X) changes in series 3 (due to scheduling conflicts) which is a shame as Nigel Thatch is excellent in the role. His replacement could be equally as good....

Well worth a look.

I doubt it, since the main characters are speaking French or Japanese. It's 3 or more years since I saw it, so can't honestly remember. Also, age having caught up with my hearing, I prefer sub-titles even for English-speaking movies, especially if the movies are set in Scotland, Chicago or New York....

I assume we're talking about the TV series?

Do you mean a dubbed version or subtitles?

Well worth a look.

Which reminds me of "American Gangster" which is a great picture with Frank Lucas (Denzel Wasington) as Bumpy's (Clarence Williams III) second man. "Based on a true story"

Worth seeing a second time

You missed out on Season Two then which was released on 21 January 2026.

Two rather odd, but interesting movies starring Colin Farrell with the same director.

The Lobster & The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Think I just prefer The Lobster.

Both definitely odd/different.

I watched a movie called "The Missing" and it is about a band of indians kidnapping girls and young women to sell them over the Mexican border. It stars Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett as well as Aaron Eckhart and deals with this issue and that of a broken family and the quest to find and free the girls/young women.....IMO very enjoyable, but be warned there's lots of killing in it!!

English subs and the complete season.

OK - I am now downloading one that should have subs.

Not 4 series - there will be a 2 hour S05 to bring the story to a close.

I thought the show took a downturn when Malcom X was replaced, I think Nigel Thatch got the pace of his voice to perfection, he even looked like Malcom X. The replacement was one of the worst continuity mistakes ever.

Currently watching Battlestar Galactica miniseries plus four seasons.

First released in 2003 ......... And still a quality production.

I recently watched the movie Locked.

A guy breaks into an SUV owned by Anthony Hopkins, and then becomes locked inside. It's a rather strange thriller. Watchable, but not great.

Yeah, I remember that being okay, about like "The Whisper Man"

But I'll watch anything with Hopkings or Di Niro

BBC have a great fictionized recreation of the evacuation of westerners & Afghans from Kabul 5 years ago.

It's called, quite simply 'Kabul' and is very realistic and at times quite disturbing. 6 parts all available now.

I tried to watch something about the current fentanyl crisis in America, but all I could find was Oh God, a 1970s "clean" John Denver movie about how wise the Jewish God is.

PSST Conservatives have no idea what sarcasm is. 😄

Why are you trying to drag your infantile politics into the TV/movie thread?

Another old one (2024) that's new to me...

The Marlow Murders...

Judith, Suzie and Becks start an investigation. To assist with official police investigation, headed by Tanika, They must suspect witnesses, and face down real danger as they work against the clock to stop the killer in their tracks.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27950663/

I quietly enjoyed Season 1... Season 3 was released in the UK in March but not released in the US for another week so it might be popping up on other's radar soon as well...
