A 20-year-old Myanmar national has died following a violent assault at Hua Hin fishing pier in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, with police arresting three teenage suspects within hours of the incident. The victim succumbed to severe injuries at Hua Hin Hospital after being attacked late on New Year’s Eve, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities. The case has raised concerns about alcohol-related violence during holiday celebrations.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight on 31 December 2025 at the fishing pier in Hua Hin subdistrict, Hua Hin district. Police from Hua Hin Police Station were called to reports of a serious assault and later confirmed that the injured man, identified as Mr Her Hai Yin, aged 20 and a Myanmar national, had died from his wounds. Officers attending the scene found numerous broken liquor and beer bottles scattered across the ground, along with bloodstains.

According to statements from the victim’s friends, they had been sitting and drinking alcohol at the location prior to the attack. One person in the group allegedly threw a glass bottle onto the ground, causing it to shatter loudly. This drew the attention of another group of young men sitting nearby, who approached to warn them about the disturbance, leading to a heated argument.

The confrontation escalated into violence, with the victim being surrounded and assaulted by the suspects. Witnesses said his friends fled the scene in panic, leaving him alone as he suffered heavy bleeding from a wound to the neck and cried out for help. Emergency assistance was not able to save him and he later died in hospital.

Following the attack, Pol Col Kampanat Na Wichai, superintendent of Hua Hin Police Station, ordered an urgent investigation. Police investigators gathered intelligence in the area and were able to locate and arrest three suspects at their homes in the Nong Kae area. The suspects include one 18-year-old found in possession of a knife believed to have been used in the attack and two other young men aged 19 and 20.

Khoasod reported that all three suspects have been taken into custody and handed over to investigators for legal proceedings. Police have confirmed that charges will be pursued in accordance with the law, while further inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal assault.

Is this the same Hua Hin pier that the local authorities have been promoting as a safe family-friendly site?

Today with all the drugs people consume and when mixed with booze, it's a deadly mix that can strike anybody for no reason.
