Anybody Want Saudi Arabia?

Featured Replies

Trump has reestablished the days of Colonialism, Imperialism and a world where might is right. The easy pickings are there now for Communist China to absorb democratic Taiwan, and Tsar-wannabe Putin to bring Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania back under Moscow’s control. All is fair in love and war.

But wait! There’s more!

Saudi Arabia not only sits atop massive amounts of easy-to-get light sweet crude, but it is strategically placed with both Red Sea and Persian Gulf access. It is also that silly anachronism called a monarchy, so believers in democracy can certainly use that as an excuse to remove the murderous monarch from power. Besides, the ruler is corrupt and likely a psychopath. Precious little of the oil wealth filters down to the people. If that was justification for Venezuela, it works in spades re Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia also continues to fund Sunni Islamic terrorism, as US, UK and Israeli intelligence services know only too well. Who can forget 15 of 19 9-11 hijackers came from Saudi. If we still have a War on Terror, that's justification right there.

What would give even Evangelicals motivation for taking that land, is the fact that not only is Christianity outlawed, the punishment for violating that law is public beheading. Not a single church exists in the Kingdom, as they are outlawed. Trump supposedly attacked Nigeria in defense of besieged Christians, so doing the same in Saudi is a slam dunk. Come on Donny, grab your Two Corinthians and have at it!

If Maduro and his wife are sufficiently bad to justify capture and extradition, certainly MbS and a few of his concubines demand capture, plus a public trial and sentencing after being found guilty. There is certainly enough SIGINT and HUMINT intelligence that MbS ordered the execution and dismemberment of WaPo journalist Jamal Khashoggi, so that MbS should face trial and---to use the punishment which he practices in Saudi Arabia---public beheading if found guilty.

So who’s going to grab Saudi? My guess is Trump will not, because he and his family have benefited massively from their association with the murderous monarch. Trump et al have made way too much money dancing with the devil.

Saudi Arabia is there for the taking, and grabbing it is easily justified by any rationale one might choose to use. Trump has announced, with his Venezuela attack, that anything you want is up to you, international norms be damned.

Might is again right. It’s déjà vu all over again in geopolitics.

Game on!
