Can anyone help?

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

Please allow me to post this topic from my recent dire needs.

I am going to have to make a live streaming video phone call to the landline number of my main bank back home.

And its duration must be at least 30 minutes.

That is the requirement my bank imposed on me. For what?

In order to lift the blocking of my internet banking.

It suddenly happened around 3pm on the 3rd of Jan. this year.

Absolutely no definite reasons stated by the bank.

I was simply using pc terminal outside home.

During my phone contact with its call center,

the bank staff demanded me which one to choose:

Report to any of their branch back home.

Or

Perform min.30 minutes long live video phone call to their landline number,

for interrogation(they say they got a screen to watch it).

in order to check my face and photo ID(my passport).

If anyone would kindly give me straight to the point advice, please list the procedures step by step.

Video call is something totally alien to me while I have been using internet, google search, email, YouTube for the past,20 years.

Kind suggestions useful information will be greatly appreciated.

Do you often do this or first time away from your home. If at home you use a vpn and on this occasion didn't?

Anyway it sound like you will need to use an app on your mobile or PC that allows you to buy minutes out to call fixed lines and mobile numbers. Viber is one example that does this.

My apologies as it appears you wouldn't be able to use the video function calling a landline.

@al mcnab is this an Aussie bank as I vaguely recall a poster who had to do this with his bank?

Ask your bank! I had to do a similar thing when opening an offshore (IOM) account some years ago.

Hi, I usually use my own pc at home.

I have done it once in the past.

Used desktop one at familiar print/photocopy shop, in order to print out the account details.

In the past, account blocking never took place even when I used such pc outside home.

Even though I sometimes experienced the failure of SMS OTP transmission; it doesn't come to my mobile phone(therefore unable to log in their net banking in such a case).

It happened in Nov. lastl year. And then thing went back to normal in Dec.

Even when I use my own pc at home, they often sent me automated email saying they didn't recognize my log in and old me to report them if I didn't log in.

Can you remember how you did it as I don't see how it works from his end?

After posting this topic, I saw something even more disturbing during Google search.

I entered the following text.

"does nab fraud team demand clients video phone for personal identification purpose on any occasions?"

And,what I saw.

AI Overview

No, the NAB fraud team

will not demand a video phone call for personal identification purposes. Scammers may impersonate the bank and ask for unusual verification methods, so any such request should be treated as a major red flag.

I dialed their authentic call center number:03 8641 9083 though.

Sorry, I cannot remember precisely but I think they provided some emailed link that enabled an online video interrogation. Just call your bank and ask them.
