Auto gates Suvarnabhumi retirement extension withe-entry permit

Featured Replies

I am on a retirement visa extension.

I have a re-entry permit, I'm departing Thailand in a few weeks, when passing from immigration at Suvarnabhumi, can I use the automatic gates without losing my extension?

Yes. Done it myself numerous times in the past year.

Can people with Non O extensions (marriage or retirement) and reentry permits use automatic gates for departure AND arrival?

Not on arrival. Arrival gates are only for Thai passports.

And Hong Kong and Singapore.

Should you need to prove your absence from your home country for i.e. tax reasons, then use the manual departure counters whereby your passport is physically stamped.

The auto gates are possibly more convenient but you cannot prove (with i.e. passport copies) that you have been in/out of Thailand for so and so long.

In case of proof of how long you have been in Thailand and used auto gates, you will be doing a pilgrimage to the provincial office of the immigration where you can request a corresponding confirmation, against a "fee" and as you know, they can be very generous with your time, i.e. you do this trip twice.

And Hong Kong what? You're surely not claiming HK and Singapore citizens can use their ID cards to enter Thailand though the auto gates.

I'm a Hong Kong PR and carry my HK ID at all times, I use it to both enter and exit HK and Macao without needing to show my UK passport, it would be great if I could do the same coming into and leaving Thailand.

Passports, not ID cards. Hong Kong and Singapore passports.

so if using the auto gates on retiremernt extension and nothing noted on Passport , presumably it is still recorded with immigration / on the database the date of leaving Thailand until re-entry which manually done at the Immigration entry point. This then automatically records the amount of time spent in Thailand for tax purposes ???? Also re 90 day reporting , if using the auto gates going out , presumably the recording on the database negates any 90 day reporting until after re-entry ???

90 days resets on your return, as it always has. If there is any automatic time counting for tax purposes I am highly doubtful, any more than there ever has been any with a manual exit. You exit is in the system, same as ever. The only thing missing is your passport stamp.
