I have a student who wants to get one but is not good with computer

He is over 50 in Bkk and here on a visa exempt entry for a few more weeks. He want to get this visa so he can return (back to UK in 3 weeks) then when back get a bank account, driving licence and then get an extension when the money has been in the bank for 2 months.

I think he can get with TM 87 at CW but does he ask for multi or single entry?

will he need a TM30 from his rented condo?

will be need re entry permit, or is that just for extensions?

I think he needs to apply 15 days before his permission to stay ends

Is there anything else he needs to know if this is correct, do not want to get him to go to CW then get turned away

He cannot open Thai bank account with visa exempt entry.

Hence he needs to obtain a Non O (retirement) eVisa when in the back in UK.

When he enters Thailand with the Non O he will be able to open Thai bank account. He will be stamped in for 90 days.

Avoid BBL.

He can then transfer 800k from abroad and season for 2 months.

He can then obtain 12 month extension.

To add to my previous post.

He cannot open bank account with visa exempt entry.

For others that have Thai bank account then yes they can enter visa exempt and obtain a Non O using TM87 + other requirements..

That would not be done at CW but rather IT square Mall LakSi immigration office.

Why do they have TM87 form if cannot get the non immigrant O visa here? Yes he know he needs that to get the bank account. Do you mean can only get non o visa here if he has bank account? if not go home get in UK then come back open account and then extend after 2 months?

Previously it was possible to open Thai bank account from tourist visa entry and even visa exempt entry..

That is no longer the case.

Then TM87 for local Non O application from visa exempt along with TM86 for folk with tourist visa entry is possible only if you have existing Thai bank account

Far better option is to obtain EVisa outside of Thailand prior to entry

Correct that he cannot get the non-O here unless he already has a Thai bank account. To get the non-O visa from immigration office, he needs to show 800k in his Thai bank account, which he cannot do.

He does not need to be in UK to obtain a Non O eVisa.

He can obtain that almost anywhere outside of Thailand.

Laos is popular.

My go to would be Saigon.

Plus UK passports are visa exempt to Vietnam.
