A woman in Udon Thani garnered significant attention on January 13 when she was seen walking naked near Udon Thani Central Hospital. The incident, reportedly a protest against abuse, unfolded when 44-year-old Kung walked unclothed as a call for help after being allegedly mistreated by a local gang member.

Police quickly responded to a report from a concerned citizen. By their arrival, Kung had been given clothing by a passerby. Kung, who struggled with unstable employment after returning from overseas, had been living rough near the hospital. She alleged that a man named Sombat, whom she accused of being part of a local gang, abused her, forced drug use, and coerced her into prostitution.

Kung claimed she walked naked to protest the abuse and said she was not under the influence of drugs, even offering to take a urine test. She expressed no desire for charity or assistance besides the chance to escape and find work elsewhere. Police intervened, coordinating with Udon Thani’s Provincial Social Development Office, providing her temporary shelter and assistance.

A local woman, Roong, who initially spotted Kung without clothes, followed her out of concern. She found Kung disoriented while on her way to get food, prompting her to intervene and help. Authorities reported that Kung had no family available to support her, and arrangements were made for her care.

As a similar case, a foreign man was seen casually walking naked through a market in Kamphaeng Phet, attracting social media attention. Videos showed the man covering himself while shopping and leaving on his motorcycle, reported The Thaiger.
