To Lodge a Complaint about an Immigration Office or not

Featured Replies

Recently I applied for my annual marriage extension (10th year).

After going through the annual BS with the bank, the Amphur, photos, updating bank passbook again after making a withdrawal after visiting the bank to get the letter than photocopying the updated passbook, we drove to immigration which takes an hour.

We entered, went to the desk where they have their little helpers (students) who went through the paperwork and handed it back.

I proceeded to sit and wait, counted 6 people ahead of me, no queuing system, so you could imagine, anyways, I followed numbers 5 & 6 getting closer to the front desk, after 6, I walked towards the male immigration officer and he told me to go back and sit very rudely and then proceeded to take others who were behind my que, my wife entered after an hour and asked what was happening, and I explained, she then proceeded to ask the immigration officer about the queuing system and he said your husband has to take his papers to the desk, to which I replied, already done.

We both don't like this guy, since day one, the other one who I haven't seen for a while, always asks for money for his Christmas Fund, which we refuse.

Anyways, the lady there then called out something in Thai and there was a mad rush of Laos people handing their passports over, so my wife then showed them what a Lioness she can be, that's when I exited to the bathroom, upon my return she was sitting at the desk where the lady immigration officer was and told me to sit.

I figured her words got through one way or another and we got served, in all took an extra hour from where I was originally in the que, so my question is, should I fire a rocket up them an request that they get a queuing system in order, or don't waste my time as I only have to see them once a year, which repulses me.

Won't say which office it's at, however you can guess it's in Issan.

Don't waste your time as you only have to see them once a year. If you do make a complaint be prepared for a much longer wait next year.

I don't think anyone has made a complaint in the history of Thailand and they took it seriously

So how long did you spend in the immigration office.

Regardless of reply... "A Complaint" is that a joke and you have been here 10 years and even ask.

Obviously the application was accepted.

Can't be Khon Kaen, they are a joy to deal with. They have a queuing system that works well.

Did you make an appointment thru the online system, or just walk in and hope?

I think you know the answer to your question. An extra hour you had to spend there this time, you deal with a small office, it's a once-a-year ordeal.... it's not worth it. Nothing positive would come of lodging a complaint (to who, and where?), and it's possible it could blowback and have negative consequences for you. Check the ego at the door. Not a betting man, but guessing next year won't be a repeat of this recent experience.

Sounds like you just needed to let off a bit of steam mate.

It can be a painful experience.

Best Just grit your teeth and get through it for another year.

I think you know complaining will achieve nothing.

2 hours, my bad, I usually go the next day and am 1st cab off the rank, so like some everyone has said, let it go and remember to be 1st cab off the rank next year.

Revenge will be bitter sweet :)

2 hours!

You've got it made. An annual extension + reentry at CW (zoo) is an expedition. Allocate the day.

Hua Hin has automated numbers that appear on overhead monitors. It was sparsely occupied 2 days ago in Bluport. The inconsistencies between the offices has been a constant.I like the big stickers on the doors that say No Gift Policy in English.
