Trump Threat: 200% Tariff On French Wine

Trump threatens 200 percent tariffs on French wine after Macron snubs peace board

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose 200 percent tariffs on French wine and Champagne late Monday in response to Emmanuel Macron rejecting his offer to join the “Board of Peace” tasked with overseeing the next steps in Gaza.

Informed by a reporter that the French president had said he wouldn’t join the board because of concerns about its powers, Trump dismissed Macron as lacking influence and said he would be “out of office in a few months.”

"I'll put a 200 percent tariff on his wines and Champagnes, and he'll join, but he doesn't have to join," Trump said during a huddle with the media.

A good lesson to all European Nations and others who submitted to Joe Biden's sanctions against the cheap russian gas and oil. What is the result today ? Most big western european nations are in a deep financial crisis due to the lack of cheap energy and due to the billions they are handing out to Ukraine. This should be a lesson to all the nations of Europe to perhaps quit the EU in Brussels that is destroying the richer european nations and has always been a humble servant of American. See what happens...as the future can have other Trump alikes in America. Europe is the only one to blame in this chaos. Europe in the first place should never have shut down it's commercial ties with Russia who was selling Europe gas and oil and rock botton rates.

Folks that will complain about Tariffs on French wine aren't Trump voters anyway

But these are Trump voters, and they will complain.

Tariffs starting to bump up product prices, Amazon CEO tells CNBC

Jan 20 (Reuters) - Amazon.com (AMZN) is starting to see an uptick in product prices on its e-commerce platform as sellers respond to cost pressures stemming from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, the tech giant's CEO, Andy Jassy, ‌told CNBC on Tuesday.

The company had pulled forward its inventory shipments early last year and urged third-party ‌sellers to bring in more stock ahead of time to circumvent tariff-driven surges in shipping costs, but "that supply has run out in the fall," Jassy said in the interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"(We're starting) to see some of the tariffs creep into some prices. Some ‌sellers are deciding that they're passing on those higher costs to consumers, some are deciding that they'll absorb it to drive demand, ‍and some are doing something in between. So you're starting to see more of that impact," Jassy said.

Only coastal elites that drink that expensive rotgut. Once the Karens have stopped throwing their toys out the pram, may I recommend Chilean chardonnay - a far superior product than anything from Burgundy. They will never look back.

That's why Trump hates the EU so much? Because of his deep concern for European nations?

For MAGAs, nothing beats an RC Cola and a box of Moon Pies!

Romanee-Conti is just another land their messiah is going to invade.

And what have USA learned by selling themselves out to China, Mexico, India, relying on energy from Saudi Arabia? Of course all important Us brands made everywhere else in the world, so do Europeans.

Greed makes us weak when our foundations relies on others, and not our self.

He needs to put the blaim somewhere else than on themselves. It’s called patriotism

Folks that claim to be Maga aren’t expatriates either. Kinda goes against the whole make America great thing.

Sacre bleu! Does France need McDonald's hamburgers? Non.

France already owns french fries!

Just another policy that ends up punishing Americans and raising taxes. French wines are enjoyed by millions of Americans and that tariff would end up punishing American industry, restaurants, and a multitude of wine distributors and retailers. So again Trump is simply missing the point and defaulting to his juvenile tariff threats. The TACO continues his ridiculousness on a daily basis.

Let us hope and dream of a world without the goombah.

Exactly but prefer Fanta and those Korean green tea ones. I make sure when I hoist a vintage Fanta that I keep my pinky outstretched. As a tip for you Fantaphiles, the 2026 Cambodia Rouge is excellet

I quoted that twice because it makes no sense at all. Are you claiming that folks who travel can't be in favor of making our country great? That's probably one of the stupidest things I've ever seen

It's pretty obvious that there's a difference between being a tourist and being an expat.

Economists tell us that it is the American people who are now paying 96% of all of trump’s tariff costs, with only 4% being felt by the manufacturers.

Are we great yet?

For me it's clear. Trump does this only to protect the health of Americans. Consuming less alcohol is good. Trump should get the noble price for medicine, because nobody did more to improve the health of american citizens.

Actually, Chilean wines can be quite good! The soil is good for wine, land is exceptionally well exposed to sun (and dew in the morning), and wineries are often owned by French wine makers.

They easily match standard French wine. For the price of a standard Bordeaux red, you can get a better Chilean equivalent with a denser body.

Of course, they cannot be compared to expensive premium French 'Chateaux' or 'appelations'.

What's your point? That's obvious, so how does it make his point anything more than a screech?

Apparently, the distinction is obvious to you, but not the significance of it. Tourists will return to the United States, expats choose not to live in it.

What day is it? Hell, Trump threatens sanctions on a daily if not hourly basis.

Fair enough, I should have specified that I was only referring to those who have permanently transplanted themselves outside of the USA.

Good. Probably the most disagreeable people of all Western nations. The wine is a poor value and the food highly overrated. The country appears to know be overrun with miscreants to which I state - som num na

US cannot buy French products...boo hoo

Given the sentiments you've expressed here, if they're typical of your compatriots, you might want to look closer to home.
