A 50-year-old man was left critically injured after crashing through a glass window on the 11th floor of a hotel in Udon Thani and falling to the fifth floor in the early hours of 27 January 2026. Emergency services rushed him to Udon Thani Hospital, where he was reported to still have a pulse on arrival.

Police from Mueang Udon Thani Police Station were alerted at around 06:30 on 27 January 2026 after hotel staff reported that a male guest had jumped from the 11th floor within the Udon Thani municipal area. The incident caused alarm among nearby residents and people in surrounding buildings.

According to initial findings, the injured man was identified as Mr Wanchai, a Thai national aged 50, from Chonburi province. He suffered severe injuries after his body fell and became lodged on the fifth floor of the hotel building.

Investigators examining the scene found that a fixed glass pane on the 11th floor, which could not be opened, had been smashed through, leaving a hole in the window. Police believe the man ran and hurled himself through the glass before falling down the exterior of the hotel.

A novice monk from a temple located next to the hotel told reporters that he heard the sound of shattering glass at around while performing morning alms round. Moments later, he heard a loud “thud”, similar to something heavy hitting the ground and informed hotel staff so they could investigate.

Rescue personnel from Udon Thani Hospital provided emergency assistance at the scene before transferring the injured man to hospital for urgent treatment. Officials confirmed that his condition was critical at the time of transfer, but no further medical details were released by the hospital.

Amarin reported that reporters were unable to enter the scene to record images, as the incident occurred within the hotel’s premises. Hotel staff have not issued a public statement regarding the incident. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
