Mother’s Probe Leads to Arrests in 14-Year-Old Sex Trafficking

A mother's urgent investigation led to the arrests of four men accused of paying for sex with her 14-year-old daughter, who was allegedly trafficked by an 18-year-old recruiter. The men, aged 45 to 57, were detained in Chon Buri province after police acted on evidence gathered from the recruiter’s phone. All four suspects have reportedly confessed to the charges against them.

The incident began when the girl’s mother, who works abroad, returned to Thailand after learning her daughter had gone missing from their home in Bang Lamung district. Upon finding her, the mother discovered Facebook messages on her daughter’s phone that suggested sexual exploitation. Further questioning confirmed the girl had been sold for sex, leading to a formal police complaint.

This led to the initial arrest of the alleged recruiter, 18-year-old Ms Parichat, last November. Police then examined her phone, uncovering evidence of transactions where clients paid between 1,000 and 1,500 baht for services with the victim. Arrest warrants were subsequently issued for the four customers based on this digital evidence.

The case was overseen by Pol Maj Gen Witha Sripraisophap, commander of the Police Cyber Taskforce (PCT). Officers from the PCT's Sub-division 2 executed the arrests, which occurred on February 2. The charges include sexual assault of a child under fifteen, taking a child for indecent acts and abduction for indecent purposes.

Matichon reported that authorities are continuing their legal proceedings against all individuals involved. The case highlights the role of online platforms in facilitating child exploitation and the critical action taken by a vigilant parent. The investigation remains active to determine if any further individuals are connected to the scheme.

I would suggest the death penalty for someone convicted of a crime like this, as it's very likely that the victim will either never recover or will experience a life that is a pale shadow of what it would have been have they gotten love and support and kindness, instead of exploitation from their toxic, monstrous, and ridiculously twisted mother.

Unfortunately there are many people who worship at the golden calf, and put money over all else.

You need to re-read the article. It's wasn't the mother that was exploiting her - on the contrary, she was the one that exposed it all.

Sorry. You are right and I stand corrected. How about the death penalty for anyone involved and trafficking a 14 year old for sex or slavery?

How about we take it a step further and if there's sufficient evidence there's no need for a trial and the death penalty is carried out within 30 days with no possibility of appeal?

why not 30 minutes ?

The most shocking aspect of this case is that there were 4 middle aged men who were stupid enough to pay for an illegal transaction with anything other than cash. Why would they do that? Because so much of this happens every day and so few perpetrators are ever prosecuted. This will likely be solved with a settlement paid to the mother and no criminal charges. Let's hope I'm wrong, but a quick search for follow ups on stories like this doesn't yield results about prison sentences.

Dirty buggers, they could have washed their hands.

you need to read the articles before making your off topic comments, not the mother

Well done Thai police for acting quickly to apprehend these men and the “agent”

Interesting however that it appears that this young girl must have been the only vulnerable girl being sold.

Nothing said about any other victims, must have been a small business…

Shame Thai police, shame.

I think the term human trafficking should be used only when a person is taken outside their home country and or involves a professional ring or groomers. It's not just semantics.

Or maybe it was just that.

Delinquent teen, mixed up with bad people, got help getting to Pattaya...

That's why I find the human trafficking term so sketchy for many SA crimes

Maybe read the relevant Thailand law.

Human trafficking is defined under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act B.E. 2551 (2008), The Act gives the clearest and legally used definition.

Under Section 4 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act B.E. 2551:

Human trafficking means the procurement, buying, selling, vending, bringing from or sending to any place, detention, harboring, or receipt of any person, by means of:

  • threat or use of force

  • abduction

  • fraud or deception

  • abuse of power

  • abuse of a position of vulnerability

  • giving or receiving benefits to obtain control over another person

for the purpose of exploitation.

What counts as “exploitation”

The law specifically includes:

  • prostitution or sexual exploitation

  • forced labor or services

  • slavery or practices similar to slavery

  • servitude

  • forced begging

  • removal of organs for trade

  • any other similar forms of exploitation

Agree to disagree on the death penalty. Long prison term in the hell of a Thai prison is better.

Oh, I understand that. Law can say an apple is an orange.

It's simply my opinion that the application of the term is far too broad.

I'm not arguing whether anyone should or shouldn't be arrested, tried, convicted, given whatever sentence they would have received otherwise.

Bear in mind feminists, etc from other nations assist in writing and passage of such laws as well.

It's much the same with r ape. The term is so widely used legally (that all sorts all sorts of questionable female behavior is entirely overlooked) to the point men don't even want to date women in the US for fear of weaponized accusations for fun and profit.

So you fail to understand the facts and the law, and again just want to push your political view regardless.

Let us hope all of the scum receive a very harsh sentence- and that the 14 year old girl recovers from her exploitation

Be honest with oneself. That girl will never fully recover in the short to medium term. She will need professional counselling. Very sad for her and her mother.

I hate to say it- but in my view you are sadly completely correct

A sad truth that such a young girl will have been so badly damaged for the rest of her life

I already apologized over that mistake, is there any additional penance that you would suggest?

I would suggest you get off your high horse which you are apparently still on.
