Fire Claims Lives of Three in Ho Chi Minh City Home

A devastating fire broke out in a two-story home in Ho Chi Minh City's Dong Hung Thuan Ward early Thursday, resulting in the deaths of a woman and her two children. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. as flames and smoke filled the house situated deep within a narrow alley. Despite immediate efforts from neighbors, the intense blaze and small explosions hindered rescue attempts.

The affected structure, part of a row of connected houses, measured roughly four by ten meters. Trapped inside were a 44-year-old woman, her five-year-old son, and 14-year-old daughter. Neighbors used water hoses and attempted to break down the house's iron and wood doors but were unable to reach the victims. Tang Hoang Kim, a nearby resident, attempted to assist from above but reported no cries for help; the fire spread rapidly within four minutes.

Firefighters arrived promptly, extinguishing the flames in about 30 minutes. Authorities discovered the mother and daughter in the bathroom and the son in the bedroom, all on the ground floor. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, inspecting the scene, gathering witness testimonies, and moving the bodies to Binh Hung Hoa morgue.

The woman was previously an accountant and had recently ventured into selling roasted ground coffee. Her husband was away in Lam Dong Province during the incident. The tragic event highlights the vulnerability of narrow alley residences in densely populated areas, reported VN Express.
