A tower crane collapsed at a construction site near a major shopping centre in Asok, Bangkok, on 7 February 2026, seriously injuring at least two workers. The incident occurred at 10:25 near Sukhumvit 21, when the crane suddenly failed and fell, striking workers below and prompting an emergency response.

Debris from the crane’s arm fell to the ground, trapping people beneath the wreckage. Rescue teams and officers from Lumphini Police Station were dispatched to the scene to provide urgent assistance and secure the area.

Initial reports confirmed that two workers, one man and one woman, sustained severe injuries during the incident. The male worker was found unconscious at the site, prompting immediate medical intervention and CPR. He was then transported to hospital for further treatment, alongside the injured female.

The collapse occurred at a construction site located close to a well-known shopping centre in the Asok area. Authorities indicated that the crane failed suddenly, though the exact cause has not yet been determined.

Following the collapse, emergency services focused on freeing those trapped and preventing further harm. The surrounding area was secured to allow rescue operations to continue safely. Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the crane failure. This includes an assessment of safety compliance at the construction site and whether regulations were being properly followed.

The incident has raised immediate concerns about construction safety in busy urban areas. Authorities are expected to review site practices and equipment standards as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Another crane accident????

Where does Thailand get these cranes? 1-800-cheapcranesRus?

Welcome to Thailand. Safety last.

Bangkok, how do I love thee? Let me count the cranes.

It's not only here. My wife and I were walking down 42nd street exactly when a crane collapsed. We read in the news that the crane had dropped right through an adjact apartment building, killing several residents.

I've often wondered about those crane operators. Where are they so highly trained, and for how long? Even really tall cranes don't appear to have lifts, so the operator has to climb to his working space. How often do they slip and fall, in the rain, say?

And those boxes, are they air-conditioned? Where does the operator eat, piss, take a dump? I'd actually like to sit in one of those cabins sometime! Must be a terrific view.

I wonder how the demolition of the hotel in BK is going, no accidents?

Or for that matter an old mall in BK. Must be some cranes working there.
