Question re marriage visa

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is an obvious question but I will likely arrive on a Non-O visa and will look to get an extension based on marriage to a Thai.

As I understand it I will need to get a COR to open a bank account and then lodge the necessary funds and wait three months before then applying for the extension.

The question is this: during that three month wait can I travel to and fro from the country easily? I assume so but haven’t seen it covered? I will likely need to come and go between Thailand and Singapore a couple of times.

Will I be able to simply go to immigration (or airport) and get a multiple re-entry stamp before the visa is issued?

Apologies if it’s a simple thing and I’m making a problem where none exists.

Thanks.

Yes you will be stamped in for 90 days and you can apply for a reentry permit to enable exit and reentry during that period.

The issue is you want a multi.

That may be refused. Some will post that's not the case and quite possibly a multi might be possible.

I'm not so confident.

Also how can you obtain extension based on marriage that has under consideration period and possible home visit.

Better planning IMO

A multi isn’t essential. If I can’t get that do I simply get apply for a single re-entry for each trip (no longer than a few days each time most likely)? And if so where and how do I get it? At Jomtien immigration or simply at the airport?

In your situation best IMO would be at airport.

For optional 200b service fee immigration does the form pic etc

You just hand over pp.

My guess is BKK airport?

Note: reentry permit desk is Zone 2 on left side of immigration ques.

You obtain PRIOR to passport control.

At DMK the desk for reentry is just PAST immigration.

Which airport is exit

Thank you. Yes it’s Suvarnabhumi.

Just to be clear - is it simply a case of arriving in departures, checking in, going through and getting it at the desk you mention before I present my passport?

If so I guess there is no downside of asking for multi - they can simply say no.

As I posted... It's specific..

You enter Zone 2.

You clear security which requires elevator up a back down then go to left side of immigration ques

You can apply for the 1 year extension as soon as the 400K has been seasoned in a Thai bank account for two months.

A multi entry costs 3,800 BHT, a single entry 1,000 BHT.
For 2 entries during the Non O 90 day period, I'd just get a single entry on each departure.

As noted above - If you are on a Type-O or OA visa, you nominally simply obtain a separate multiple re-entry permit, and you can come and go in/out of Thailand, as often as you like. No problem. Cost for the Multiple Rentry permit is 3,800 Thai baht.

For others... to be clear if you have a valid Non O-A Visa you would not require a reentry permit.

The OP enters Thailand with a Non O so yes he can obtain reentry permit to protect his 90 day stamp for trips abroad.
