Vietnam Airlines is enhancing carry-on baggage inspections just before the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, alerting passengers that excess luggage could lead to fees and delays. Economy passengers can carry a total of 12 kg of baggage, including a main item up to 10 kg. To avoid last-minute charges, additional checked baggage should be purchased beforehand.

As travel demand surges during the Tet holiday, Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to arrive early and adhere to all safety protocols. The airline recommends online check-in to shorten wait times and ease the airport process. Utilizing self-service kiosks and being well-prepared for security screening can further streamline the passenger experience.

The airline has also broadened its biometric check-in capabilities, linked with Vietnam's digital ID system, VNeID, for faster processing. Passengers are urged to ensure their identification is current and valid. Children under 14 can use a birth certificate, while older passengers need a citizen ID or other approved identification.

Passengers must stay informed about security regulations concerning prohibited items to avoid issues during checks. With record traffic anticipated at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports, passengers should also pay attention to updates regarding terminal changes at Tan Son Nhat due to a shift of certain domestic flights to the new Terminal T3, reported VN Express.

Key Takeaways

  • Vietnam Airlines warns of baggage fees and stresses early preparation for Tet travel.

  • Biometric check-in services enhance processing through the national digital ID system.

  • Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports prepare for record passenger numbers.
