Three hospital staff were killed and 10 others injured after a hospital transport van collided with a six-wheel truck in Muang district, Nakhon Sawan, on Tuesday afternoon, triggering an emergency response and causing disruption along a major highway. The crash occurred at about 3pm on 10 February 2026 on Highway 1, the Nakhon Sawan–Kamphaeng Phet road, in Moo 6 of the Nong Kradon sub-district. Rescue teams were deployed to the scene to assist victims trapped inside the heavily damaged van.

The van belonged to the Uthai Thani Provincial Public Health Office and was carrying hospital staff returning from an official inspection visit in Kamphaeng Phet province. There were 12 passengers and the driver in the van at the time of the collision. Police said the six-wheel truck, operated by the Department of Highways, was parked on the far right side of the road while workers collected logs, with a warning sign placed 200 metres behind.

Initial findings indicate the van struck the warning sign before crashing into the rear of the stationary truck. The impact caused extensive damage to the front of the van, leaving several occupants trapped. Emergency personnel used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the injured amid chaotic conditions at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that three hospital staff died at the scene. One person sustained critical injuries, four suffered moderate injuries and five were reported to have minor injuries. All injured individuals received first aid at the site before being transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Five of the injured were taken to Sawan Pracharak Hospital, while the remaining patients were transferred to other hospitals in the area. Officials have not released the identities of the deceased or injured, pending notification of their families. The Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Nakhon Sawan coordinated the response alongside police, medical teams and rescue volunteers.

Khoasod reported that officers are questioning those involved and collecting statements from witnesses who were present at the scene and the vehicles involved are also being inspected.
