El Al Israel Airlines has announced the launch of a direct route from Tel Aviv to Hanoi, Vietnam, beginning October 2026. This move is part of the airline’s broader strategy to expand its global network following a period of consolidation due to regional conflicts starting in October 2023. Initially, the service will offer three round-trip flights each week, aiming to enhance connectivity between Israel and Vietnam.

The airline has been focusing on strengthening its key destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia. As part of its new development plan, El Al intends to introduce nine new international routes, demonstrating a shift from its recent focus on core routes amid security concerns. Along with Hanoi, the airline plans to connect Tel Aviv to Seoul, South Korea, by March 2027, and has announced a forthcoming route to Manila, the Philippines.

In addition to its long-haul plans, El Al's subsidiary Sundor will launch six new routes to European destinations starting May 24, 2026. These new routes will include flights to Copenhagen, Sardinia, Sicily, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Basel, indicating a significant expansion in El Al's European offerings.

The Hanoi route makes El Al the second airline to launch direct flights to Vietnam in 2026, following a similar announcement by Akira. Experts suggest that this move highlights Vietnam’s growing importance as a travel and trade destination. The new connections are expected to boost tourism, business travel, and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Israel, and also enhance Vietnam's links with the broader Middle East region.

Looking forward, El Al’s expansion is set to accommodate increasing travel demand and trade exchanges, reflecting a robust growth phase for the airline. The precise launch date for the Manila route will be announced later, but the planned frequency suggests a strong commitment to connecting major Asian and Middle Eastern hubs, reported VN Express.
