Over the first four days of the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday, 8,358 babies were born across Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Health. Medical facilities also handled more than 39,200 patients needing examinations and emergency care. The nation’s hospitals conducted over 2,200 surgeries, including 407 emergency operations during this period.

Leading up to the holiday, health authorities took measures to ensure adequate medical services would be available. As families celebrated Tết, hospitals saw an influx of patients, with 89,006 individuals receiving treatment. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion saw a surge in blood and platelet donations, boosting reserves to 19,857 units.

Traffic accidents contributed significantly to medical admissions, with 2,876 cases related to accidents reported over the holiday. Of these, 1,189 required hospitalization. The Ministry of Health had proactively prepared for the holiday with a stable supply of medicines for patient care and disease prevention, reported Vietnam News.
