Morchit Driver's License Renewal Peripheral Eye Test?

Featured Replies

Has anybody renewed their 5 year license at Morchit recently? Did they require that test where you put your chin in a machine and identify perpheral lights and colors on the left and right?

I am on my 4th five year renewal. I first got my license in Chiang Mai and they just have you identify red, yellow and green on a wall chart. No problem with that for me. Then I went once to Bang Chak Land Transportation Office and the woman tester seemed to take delight in failing me on that test.

So it was back to Chiang Mai and no problem again. During covid I went to Morchit and they were not using the testing machine, but were holding up colors to the side. Passing that was no problem.

I don't guess I will ever pass the peripheral color test using the machine and Chat GPT tell me that is common for older folks like me.

I have always used my old style work permit that had an address at both Bangkok and Chiang Mai offices, but now I have a new one that is not acceptable to them and must get the annoying certificate of residence. I suspect that might be a problem if I try to go to Chiang Mai but maybe it just means taking the hotel's TM30 form.

Thanks for your information.

Not Morchit but I did the test at Bangkok DLT 1 (Bang Khun Thian) and they did have the machine. I passed with some difficulty.

I did this test about 2 years ago at Bangkok DLT 4. Had problems too, but finally passed the test. I had a feeling the woman were helping me.
